Voting FAQ:
If you are cold voting a deal, it is good forum etiquette to post a note in the deal as to why you have done so. There is nothing more confusing to a new member, than to post a deal, only to see it go cold with no explanation. If you found the item cheaper elsewhere, please let us know where and how. If you have no interest or knowledge about the deal at all, please don’t vote cold, just move on.

100 % correct. I do have knowledge of this.
So YOUR WRONG. goodnight and thanks...!:p

It's not your, it's you're, but hey... agreed, move on ppl unless you know what ur talking about!

Good deal but for an extra £6.80 Amazon sell the swiss Champ which is daddy of Victorinox thats excluding that rediculous £500 monster size thing they do.
#11
Don't like Victorinox multi-purpose gubbins. I've owned one of their knives for years but find the tools in it so inconvenient that I've hardly ever used them, and how often do you need a blade that size? In contrast I wouldn't be without my trusty Leatherman Micra. Small, light and very handy. The scissors on the Leatherman will also double as light duty wire cutters and the blade is big enough to be useful but not big enough to be mistaken for an offensive weapon by the frightened minority.

Voted hot though 'cause it's a good price and someone must like them as they've been around for a lot of years.

I've used Swiss Army knives since I was a girl guide on camping trips many years ago, nothing wrong with knives, I always take one camping with me and I find it very useful.

But then again... where I grew up in no longer has a scout or guide group because the children these days are too poorly disciplined to behave. Society has gone down hill and in extreme cases that's why we hear about these issues in the news.

yh i agree with you there its the discipline that is ruining modern day society :x

swiss army knives are great. have cut more than one horse out of danger with one of these always have at least one on the yard and another in the car, I did used to carry one in my bag but in the current climate thought it better not to, great price cheers op

£18 for a knife that can't even cut the head off a man?

It's political correctness gone mad, In the land o the free you can get an 18" machete for £6. Or how about a 16" for the Ladies

Lot of posts have gone missing on this thread, including my own..... None of them were abusive.

Not another one...
What has the possible MISUSES of a product got to do with the deals associated with it?
This is hot UK DEALS, not "Hot UK stuff", the DEAL is hot or cold, NOT THE ITEM.
Don't vote cold just because you don't agree with it or because you feel it's a bad thing, vote cold only if it's not a good DEAL.

Besides, even if some random thug wanted to buy a knife, do you seriously think they're going to fork out nearly £20 for a knife shorter than their finger when they can get a nice, big, sharp knife much more suitable for stabbing for less than £5 at Argos, Wilkinson's, etc.?

It's not even a proper "knife" ffs, it's a SWISS ARMY KNIFE, it has several tools all wrapped up in one useful little package. It's not even useful as a weapon, it's small yet fat and not the fastest at drawing. A screwdriver would be more deadly than this thing.

Erm, the item IS the deal. Look at THIS for example. it's a saving on the RRP for sure (so a DEAL!!!! in your opinion), but a massive waste of money.

If something is a rip-off people will vote accordingly. If people disagree with something they will also vote accordingly (not that I would bother personally).

I'm sure you could buy some "chubby brown" dvd's for 99pence somewhere - but a fat bigoted idiot is still a fat bigoted idiot even at that price.

You completely misunderstood me. When I said the deal is hot or cold, not the item, I'm referring to the value you are getting from the deal and not whether you agree with the deal or not.
To use a different analogy I've used previously - say you really really really really really HATE Ferrari's. I mean, absolutely detest them more than anything, yet someone posts a deal for a brand new Ferrari Enzo for £5000. No matter how much you hate Ferrari's, you have to admit that's a fantastic deal - thus it's hot.
It doesn't matter if, in your opinion, it's a waste of money, if it's still a better deal than an alternative, it's hot.
Likewise in this instance, just because someone MIGHT misuse the item to cause harm is no reason to vote cold since the deal itself is still quite a good one.
Otherwise, you may as well vote cold absolutely everything you're not interested in and only vote hot on the things you actually plan to buy - and that would simply not work on a site like this.

Why do people see a pocket knife and instantly think its a weapon??
I carry a swizz army knife in my van and one in my car, not to hurt anyone just because its a useful tool.
Voted hot because it's a good deal.
#27
Like I said.. I was'nt havin a go at the person who posted the deal, I just think with us trying to find a way to get knives off our streets that the last thing we need is a knife at a bargain price to add insult to 'injury' (pun intended :p)

It's not a bargain price for a Knife though, it's nearly £20! The blade is just a tiny part of it, the rest of the tools are more or less harmless (watch out for that corkscrew!) and as I said above, the main blade wouldn't make a very effective stabbing weapon at all - it's small and relatively easy to bend if you hit it with too much force.

I have had a swiss army knife since i was 13 i am now 27 and it has come in handy so many times their useful little things.

Voted hot!

Numerous times on these boards you get deals for cheap kitchen knives in knife blocks. But you never get the anti knife brigade complaining about them.
But they are exactly the sort of knives that are used in knife crime. And they are exactly the sort of knives that you see handed in the nick at knife amnesty's.
The people that buy & use expensive Leathermans, Gerbers, and Victorinox's are people that have a genuine need & use for them.

If you take the knives away, they'll use something else. The knife isn't the problem, it's the person using it.

No because its people like you that think we'll solve knife crime by not selling swiss army knives. It was the same when the new gun laws came in years ago. Genuine enthusiasts and collectors were heavily affected and guess what, criminals using guns continued to rise.

People like you think that by paying more tax to the government, we'll some how magically fix the environment.

Stupid irrational decisions made, which ultimately affect the normal hardworking citezen, to try and quickly remedy a given problem. Thats what is screwing up society.

If you agree then why did you vote cold and say what you said in your original statement? A complete contradiction.

The difference is knives have a genuine use (many, obviously).

A hand gun has only one use and that is to kill a person. It was the only thing it was designed to do.

People like you think that by paying more tax to the government, we'll some how magically fix the environment.
No, the idea is that by charging more tax it will put people off.

The problem is that people with money will just continue to do it (whilst getting tax breaks anyway) and the working classes are priced out of living.

Stupid irrational decisions made, which ultimately affect the normal hardworking citezen, to try and quickly remedy a given problem. Thats what is screwing up society.
Capitalism is what's screwed up this society.
