Here's the writeup on knife law from the Government;

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CrimeJusticeAndTheLaw/CrimePrevention/DG_078569

As said by leighonigar, it's legal to carry as it's under 3.5" blade, but they can still do you for carrying an 'offensive weapon' if they believe you're carrying it for the wrong reasons. You still have to have a proper reason to carry this knife on you in public, even though it's under 3.5". You can't just carry a knife in your pocket, regardless of how big or small the blade is.

Never understood why anyone would need to carry a pen knife around with them in everyday life personally :?

Bare hands would probably be easier than the size of the blades on these things anyway :p

Don't get me wrong, it's a great price and voted hot for that reason, but unless you're going camping or in a similar situation, carrying one of these can get you arrested.

I have a pen knife to sharpen my pencil. You can see the graphite on the blade if you need proof.

Awesome deal, I think it may be an old model as there have been some new ones in the shop where I work, mainly rebranding the same sort of stuff though - 'camping', 'duke of edinburgh' etc

Get one if you need one, I might buy one as I keep losing my Dads! It always turns up in the end

The law is 3" not 3.5" (and non locking). This is still legal to carry.
#10
If the steel on these things would keep an edge I'd definatly have one.

Me too!! And if I don't sharpen my pencil that leaves it blunt which just will not do:thinking:
Nb what do you use for your felt tips when they run dry?

No it can't...

Its not a hot deal i don't think. £8 for a piece of rubbish, id only use it for bottle and wine opener. Even then its still expensive.

Apologies! Unsure where the extra .5" came from...

Swiss army knives have been very good value on Amazon for a long time, I am not sure that this is really a time-limited deal but it's good nonetheless.

got mine confiscated at the airport :p, forgot it was in the backpack

I suppose this could be true, if you are threatening or attacking people with it. If it's simply sitting in your pocket, then you aren't going to get arrested unless you are doing something stupid to attract the law.

"If a knife is used in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife), it is regarded as an 'offensive weapon' by the law. This is also the case with things like screwdrivers - once used in a threatening manner, they are treated as offensive weapons. It is an offence to carry an offensive weapon in a public place, if you don't have a reasonable excuse. This means that carrying something that could be viewed as an offensive weapon, and then using it in a threatening way, could mean that you are prosecuted."

If you want to tell me i'm wrong then feel free, but good luck telling the government that :whistling: If you don't have reasonable reason to be carrying a knife, regardless of how big the blade is, and the police believe your intentions are of an offensive nature, then you can be arrested for it. Simple as that. I didn't say you'll get charged for carrying it, but the police will happily take you off the streets and in for questioning if you don't have valid reason to be carrying even a swiss army knife on you.

Showing as £12.50 now. For the extra £4 this is better value http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-1370300-Army-Knife-Climber/dp/B0001GS18Q/ref=pd_cp_sg_1

I've got it in black which is currently over £25 on Amazon. The thing I use most is the scissors.

wtf, they are £12.50, probably because loads of people are looking at the site and they think that the item i popular. lol
