always great to teach kids to play with knives lol

Not sure about the having a 'toy' knife is really a good thing, will it not just encourage them to pic up other knives and treat them the same as their toy one. I can still remember getting my first small pen knife when I was about 10 or 11 I think but it came with a talk about how to use it (and how not to use it), which you can't really explain to kids when they are any younger.

There's enough nutters about with knives without encouraging more

I knew that this would attract some negativity, but imo it's just the same as a kids tool set, they have saws / hammers / screwdrivers/ drills in, I never demonised items when my son was growing up, he had guns, bows & arrows, tool sets etc & so far @ the age of 20 has managed not to stab, shoot or saw someone in half, hopefully by taking the same attitude with my 2 young girls now, they will grow up to be well adjusted young women too :)

Its not that I am worried they would end up involved in knife crime, more that they will see knives as toys and then if they get hold of a real knife it will end up sticking out of their leg or something. I don't really know, just makes me worry is all.

I think that by the age of 4 my son knew that knives were not toys, my girls @ 33mths & 23mths know that knives / forks are not to be played with, but to eat with & as always anything sharp / dangerous is kept out of their reach, it's down to personal choice, I see far less harm in this than some of the sling shot, pea shooters & such like my brothers played with 35-45 yrs ago, I'm surprised I'm still here, I was nearly always the one holding the target :D
