" It has a large 4.3" colour TFT touch screen"

As opposed to a small 4.3" colour TFT touch screen?
#5
Running Wince6 and SD slot so would be surprised if it doesn't.

EDIT: See here :)

£43.95 delivered.
Quidco tracked at £1.30, making it £42.65 total ?

i believe this is best price currently for 4.3" satnav. i'll have a go at hacking and report back.

can i return to a store if it's faulty, even though i bought online and had delivered?

Yes it can run other software - I have one running iGo Primo 8 and it works fine (from an SD card).

I got the guide from the defunkt simplesatnav site, and on there was a guide on how to put TomTom on it, although it was more difficult to do than iGo was, due to the WinCE6 platform.

It's fabulously thin, perhaps its best feature (beside this price) is its pocketablility.

Prefer the large one, it's much bigger!!!!:p

Very tempting, the mixed reviews are off putting though :-( I have an old Navigo running tomtom

Not sure why it gets mixed reviews, probably due to the proprietary software being poor, so it does need some 3rd party on it, and iGo Primo is a prime example of one that makes it far more desirable.

exactly - so not really worth it imho if it cant be hacked.

If you really want to put any satnav software onto one such as this , you want WinCE 5.
There has been problems running software on version 6

I can confirm mine runs Win CE 6.0 and had little issue in running Igo Primo. The only thing I had to do was rename the type of sat nav in the sys.txt file (or it kept ignoring the .exe file).

Strange, got a Chinese headunit in the car running wince6, igo and primo run no problem, same goes for a no name 5" satnav I have, runs both no problem.

Never been able to get TT to work on them though.

Might I add that seing as I have it working, I can host the files on the SD card relatively easily using a ge.tt web program that I recently found out about.

My upload speed is around the 8mb/s mark so it doesn't take that long to upload even 500mb worth.

If anyone wants these, PM me and I'll happily oblige.

simple satnav is not running anymore, however try gps underground.
Just put your favourite navigation application on sd card, go to settings of the navigator and change navigation software path to the one you copied to sd card... Quite simple!

I had been a member of the PCTalyor site and others for years when I first bought my Navigos 4.3" & 3.5" and tinkered about with the units and software . I was mainly into tomtom stuff and the early navigos ran everything . I had read about problems from members running newer versions of WinCE . I cannot comment on WinCE 6 as both my units are WinCE 5 .My 4.3 has Igo8 ,Tomtom & Miomap running from the same SD card , done as a experiment but I mainly use TomTom .
I suppose my maps are a little old now as many sites have closed down and software can be a little hard to get .I've been looking on Dx for a WinCE5 device with a 5" , 6" , or 7" screen but cannot make up my mind on what to buy .

****, looks like they have all gone.
#25
thanks for help above guys.
£40 is a pretty common budget satnav price so keep your eyes out there'll be more.

ebuyer seem to have stopped doing their WinCE cheap satnavs. wonder if this is connected to certain sites going down..?

your right , the Navigos were replaced by the F&H Foehn & Hirsch range and they seemed to have gone too . Pity :-(

got my ViewQuest, seems to be easily moddable (ActiveSync found it, CeRegeditor works etc.)
screen (resistive) seems rather hard to register after using my SanFrancisco (capacitive) probably a good thing for driving though, needs a firm press.
also 4.3" 480x272 seems awfully low res after using phones.. again a good thing imho for use in cars where you have to read it quickly at a distance.

seems good, just need to remember how to install menus, since SimpleSatNav's gone anyone know other guides?

unfortunately its been delisted so doesn't look like its coming back, expired.

alright, good news for anyone else who got one!
you don't even need to hack this unit to run alternative software. thanks to a small (and easily missed) gui button this is the easiest to customise GPS i've seen.

1) put your (WinCE compatible) navigation app on a MicroSD card, insert and listen for the "mounted" sound
2) click Settings > About then "NAVI path". browse and choose your .exe

that's it! the main button will now start your nav software instead of TurboDog.

i've tried Amigo and (after deleting the save folder) it seems fine. satellites, screen res etc all picked up automatically.
only problem is it hangs if you try to standby with amigo running - but this is a common problem to all wince units afaik. ways around it with mortscript i think.

excellent.
cheers OP

of course if you want to replace the menu to have a choice of software it's a bit more tricky but this will probably do for most.
