Old sigma chip which is the same one as in the original Popcorn hour the A200 which i own and i can tell you im going to upgrade PCH as it **** very slow and hot running i would buy the AcRyan HD mini2 its around double the price but is way better. Knowing the sigma i am going cold on this you would be much better buying the AsusOplay for not alot more as it uses the realtech chip.

Ordered one as the VBridge I've been using has a tendency to cut out at the beginning of movies and jump over to recently deleted stuff on the external hard drive, can never get it to go back to the point it cuts off and often lose a couple of minutes of the movie because of it. Very annoying with important opening scenes.

seems to have pretty good reviews even at its old £100+ price point!

the iplayer and youtube support are a great addition!

I think this could be the new emprex that got hot a while ago!

Can you use a wireless keyboard and mouse with this ?

If not, how easy is internet browsing ?

From what I've read, you can use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Been looking for a decent priced media player.
Was looking at the Sumvision Cyclone micro 2, but too many complaints about the poor remote and range put me off.
This looks like a much better option with the bonus of it being a network player.

Ordered, so lets hope it's as good as it sounds.

EDIT1:
According to the Viewsonic page, these wireless adapters are supported by the VMP75, not sure if they work with this unit, but they seem to have identical specs, so I would have thought they did (now confirmed VMP74/75 are the same, just UK/US versions).

Alfa Network (AWUS036NEH)
AZIO (AWU101N)
EDIMAX (EW-7711UTn)
Intellinet 150N Model 524698/524438
Zonet ZEW2545

Will have a look for them when I can, and will buy one to test if they're cheap enough.

EDIT2:
Bit more about wifi dongles in this review, apparently some definitely work -

Remember that streaming HD over wireless is unlikely to be perfect. You would be better off with powerline or far better off with a network cable.

Ive had the Viewsonic a couple of months now. MKV playback is jumpy (which is the main reason i bought it). Surround sound is very good. Unfortunatly the box freezes up a lot and i have to pull the power lead out. I will be buying an AC Ryan when i have the money. Cold from me.

Haven't seen a mention of the MKV jumpiness in any reviews yet. As someone said, are you streaming over network, or from USB or esata devices?
If USB, is it a flash drive, portable HDD, or external HDD? I know there can be problems with some media players not supplying enough juice to play properly from portable (USB powered) HDD's.
All these things can make a difference.

Is that playing from USB or over network?

If its on USB it seems to be like a buggered NTFS format. I'd re-format the drive, if you don't need files >4GB then use fat32 with it.
Do a full format not a quick format.

i've been after a network box after the VBridge/Hisense ones were stopped being made... maybe tempted, although I was waiting for a Sumvision HD2 with Freeview HD as that'd be perfect solution!

Ordered yesterday, got the free delivery, and it will be at my door between 12:00-13:00.
That's what I call service :D.

Got mine this morning. MKV playback jumpy...entirely due to it setting itself to 60hz which my TV obviously didn't like. A couple of clicks set it to 50hz and all is well. Seems like a great little box and a fantastic bargain.

Further to the jumping mkv thing, the manual says to turn on Auto-Sync to solve the problem

I ordered 3 and all the boxes had the security seal cut. Anyone elses like this ??
#23
One advantage it seems to have over WDLive is that it will recognise external hard drives through a hub.

Mine was sealed.

I picked one up off ebay for £5 :3.

I did find a couple of sites that sold them, I'll have a look in my history in case they're still there.

This is the model I got from eBay, and is supposed to have the right chipset -

That's not saying that it'll work for sure, I won't know till it arrives and I try it out.

Set it all up today, and that wifi dongle works perfectly.
The one posted by adeo should also be fine.

Finding the quality really top notch but thats when it works or it can find files it likes to play!
I have been having some problems with wireless connectivity!

1. I cannot login to NETWORK SHARED Files and to be honest i donot know what login details it needs! i have tried my talktalk router login also tried from pc Home group password with the name of my pc! have you any tips etc.
2 UPnP when i go into that for some reason it will not show my a downloaded movies, just a small selection also the same for the music some files are showing some are not or says cannot play file or no file, when there are files on my pc!
i have also tried moving files to relevant folders etc to see if they then show up on viewsonic but they dont!
viewsonic is showing my name for my pc for both NSF and UPnp.
BTW i have a talktalk huawei echolife hg521 router and my pc is win7 32bit, avg firewall.
i will probably call viewsonic tech support tomorrow, but any help from you wud be very much appreciated. ta
3. How can i view(wirelessly) my files/movies etc which are stored on my ex hdd if i have my wireless adapter in the 1 and only usb or can i use a usb hub or wud that cause problems? ta.

It looks as though they're a bit flakey. Mine was fine for about 6 weeks then it wouldn't boot to a green light, only yellow, zilch from the HDMI/no parrots.
Emailed them, they collected it the next day, emailed them 2 weeks later (last week), where's my streamer?
Ahh, we're waiting for a part.

Emailed again 18/07/11, no reply as of 22/07/11, terrific service.
