You have to be kidding, get yourself round to a nearby business, school or university and they'll throwing out much better systems than these things.

I think that is a great find. if you dont like the case you can get 1 for a tenner.
exaggeration there dont you think. its rare to find any school or business now that just skip them on the public side walk.

Not at all. For example many universities upgrade systems regularly and give away to students or chuck out old machines. Usually the latter as all the students have laptops these days. Same for businesses, they don't sell old machines because a) no one would buy them and b) they can get tax relief by giving them away.

Hell I have a couple of machines at home gathering dust that I can't even give away.

So yeah, I can confidently say that there's no-way anyone should be paying money for something this old!

This is a brick. Better saving up for something better. No disrespect to OP.

Got to disagree, most medium/large companies these days have contracts to have old equipment taken away. Gone are the days when the IT dept would give you a machine that was going to the skip...

I also disagree - We've have to use a recycling company and cannot give old PCs\servers away due to EU\H&S regs as we 'could' be held responsible if the person we give the kit to got harmed in anyway (stupid I know, but its the world we live in!)

We have a huge stack of printers waiting to be 'recycled' at the moment and 95% of them work fine but we cant offer them to staff. Complete waste IMHO.

I work at aschool and all our old IT stuff has to be disposed of by a specialist company who has to give us a certificate to prove the items were disposed of properly . Some companys charge and some do it for free.
Anyway ,this has nowt to do the the thread topic and I think it's not a bad deal for a PC to help someone get started in computing or even for the kids to do their homework on.

And this is where some of them end up.

Much as I could **** off the spec. it's actually better than the PC I'm typing this on.

Some Freecycle groups have this sort of thing free.

There's also tons of it on eBay.

If it has a proper XP licence then that might useful to some people.

I wouldn't say it's a good deal, but some people may not be aware that this sort of thing is available.
