I know Morrisons & Tesco Value bread is the same price, but I wan't too impressed with the Morrisons stuff. It was soft and doughy and despite claiming to contain 20 slices on the pack, only contained 18 slices.
The Village bakery loaf at Aldi always contains 20 slices and tastes better in my opinion.
I have compared the nutitional value too!
On a like for like basis (e.g. per 100g) the bread sold at Aldi contains less calories than both Morrisons & Tesco versions.
It also contains more protein than the other two!
It has less carbohydrates than the two competitors of which less sugar is contained than the Tesco version, but slightly more than the Morrisons version.
The loaf sold at Aldi also has less fat than the two competitor's versions and less salt (equivilent) content.
Finally it has more fibre content.
So all in all it seems a much better loaf for the price, not just because I think it tastes better, but because it is nutritionally better.
As the Morrisons bread deal is almost 400 degrees, I look forward to how cold this is voted. lol.
