Virgin 100mb broadband for £35 a month

Currently the fastest broadband available

Download an entire music album in as little as 5 seconds; a TV show in around 30 seconds, a high quality movie in as little as 1½ minutes and a high definition movie in around 7 minutes. 100Mb really excels when the whole house is online at the same time – whether for streaming HD videos, downloading HD movies, gaming online or accessing everyday services. With 100Mb broadband there is plenty of connection for everyone!

Don't know where your getting that from but its not what im getting i get 1.3mbps and im on 50mb broadband. The 100mb will be at the expense of everyone else being shaped inclucing the uncapped 50mbps no doubt,50mb is suppose to be uncapped but 2weeks back my newserver started getting really erratic speeds very low like 500kbps instead of the usual 6mbps downstream and it turned out they where shaping the port and when i rang up they denied it totally i changed the port and it went back up.

Your speeds make no sense at all as far as im aware there's no 30mb broadband and that's what your speed test shows if its 50mb your being robbed if its 20mb that's amazing or better still its wrong. At the moment **** poor Virgin has the monoply on fast BB but as soon as theres another company providing super fast BB im gone, there service is poor the tech support are idiots who can barly speak english and it daylight robbery the way they are reducing your speeds at peek hours which in Virgins terms is pretty much all day long.

No point in having such fast broadband when the company is constantly shaping and limiting the connection. My Nan was on their 20mb and she registered on speed test as having 18mbps, yet her download speeds were still maxing out at just over 200kbps at all times (including 3-4am); by contrast I get 6mbps and my download speeds max out at just over 1mbps.

Ive had Virgin media at 2 houses (wiltshire and northampton) and both were excellent.
20Mbit service in Wilts and the download speed was constantly at least 18Mbit. Much more than anyone i know has ever achieved out of any other UK broadband provider.

At my new flat i have the 50Mbit service, and i constantly get between 50-60Mbit download.

Proof for those who need it:

(and this is over WiFi G on my laptop, I can post tests and actual download proof from my desktop tommorow, if people need it)

So you're on a 100Mb line - but with only a 27Mb connection?

That's not very good is it!

I'd assume he has the 50mbit sevice, which has 5Mbit upload (in most areas, coming to all soon)
The fact his ping is 40ms (not around 20) shows his connection is being hit heavily by xbox live as he said.

Yes they limit some ports during peak times, yes the policies (except 50mbit) have download caps after a certain threshold in certain times, but their download speeds are much much higher and pings are much much lower than ANY other uk provider can offer. Unless your next-door neighbour is a telephone exchange.
As soon as this becomes available in my area I think I'll be jumping on-board.

Its £45 per month or £35 plus a £12.99 virgin land line. So you can't actually get 100 meg broadband on its own for £35!

So the total cost IS £47.99 as I said you can't get broadband for £35 without also buying a virgin landline you should quote the total cost of a deal not miss bits out. Note giving up your existing BT landline can also cost a fair bit to re-connect later on. Virgin phone line calls are also a rip off.

Always had the advertised speed from VM, way way way faster than anything down the BT line

you have to have a VM landline or they charge £12 more anyway

price is £47.99, not £35

Agreed I've been a happy Virgin broadband Customer for over a year now, but I do feel a deal should be honest about the costs involved and also worth highlighting any pitfalls like very expensive calls and re-connection charges.

wow its getting really cold in here . lol

anyway its the fastest broadband.

, after reading all the comments , im staying away from virgin.

currently with sky broadband unlimited. sky 20mb (getting 13mb ) for £12.50 per month + sky tv with 2 package kids, and variety for £10 per month.

Unfortunately it's the rules. If anyone wants to sign up for broadband they can't just pay £35, they have to either take out a phone line with them or pay anyways.

For a long while now I am getting anywhere between 5-10mbs, sometimes even 1mb. web pages are very slow, regardless of whether I'm downloading or not. I pay for 50mb yet have not received it for months now - at any point of any day.

Then I'd get on to tech support. Which I know can be a battle, your STB may be over-subscribed.
Also try unplugging and plugging in the modem so you refresh your IP.

Virgin (cable) ARE the fastest broadband provider in the UK. There is NO PROVIDER which can provide a faster download speed AT ALL.

Their 50mbit service is excellent (and you get 100 free photo prints every month, which is about £8 worth. AND unlimited online storage/backup, to which I have about 100GB uploaded so far)

I know virgin aren't the best with shaping ports at peak times (which you can get around) but it is clearly set out in their T&C's

I really don't know what's so cold about this deal, For those that can get it, its fantastic.
Its £0.45 per Mb per month (if you take the 'without a phone line' cost)

BT option 2 (which only gets you 40Mbit download, 10mbit upload, 5gb storage and £50 connection Fee) is £0.625 per MB per month.

The deal is £47.99, not £35

The Deal is £45, thats the virgin media cost without a phone line
Even with the phone line, its 47.27, not 47.99

Also people taking new contracts, dont forget quido, its £65 IIRC. Thats £60 in your pocket after than quidco fee of £5 (if youve never used quidco)
