i pay £43 and get a V+ box, an extra box, phone XL, TV XL, BB L(10 meg)

I know think I'm being ripped off, got in touch with them and they said thats the way it is and go on about deals being for new usuers!. I'll have to try again. thsy do knock of £9.50 a month for having 3 services but I should be on the higher packages.

I pay £25 for 10Mb as well - us loyal customers dont get a lot. I will be asking for this 'upgrade' when its available. Like you I also get a discount but its still not the best value compared with many places in Western Europe and Scandanavia

I have got Broadband L (standalone)£25.69 up from £25 it
was £24 via e-billing.When I checked the prices it seems
Standalone Broadband L went down to £20 in February
via e-billing or direct debit so I have emailed
twice now and not had a reply.Hmm someone on Digital Spy
same service paying £20.80 by Direct Debit.

Another thing to be a ware of is what modem you have. I've heard if it s one of the older ones it will only go to 20 meg and yoiu may need an upgrade for 50 meg. Not sure if this is correct just someting someone told me. My modem is a motorola SB4200, not sure if it will work or not.

You will get a new modem for 50meg along with a new router.

most of the time when you threat to leave.. they dont consider to give u better package..

in such cases i give then 30 days notice and wait for their call before the period, and if they dont phone u to give u better deal, then i will sign on my missus's name as new customer and get better deal.. i agree u loose ur number, but I ain't bother.
#15
Yea its a bit tricky for me as I havent got a Bt line or even a normal TV areal so if they call my bluff I'll be cut off from the world, I also havent got a missu's to sign up as again:)
#16
Don't forget tho guys, agree any new deals and you are locked in for another 12 months...
#17
also if i take the virgin phone line option can i keep my current bt line as well?
#18
I think this £28 price is missleading as you cannot buy the 50mb broadband at that price on its own i.e. you have to take a phone line for £11 making a combined price of £39 a month. If you want the broadband on its own then you have to pay £38 which is just silly. Virgin should sell the 50mb broadband as costing £38 with a discount if you take a phone line as well.

I expect there are many people, like me, that have a mobile phone and don't wish to waste £11 a month on a phone line. I would upgrade to 50mb but not at the £38 price.

the thing is that you have to threaten to leave but be firm and assertive- retentions will generally offer you something although you may need to consider whether you are prepared to accept their view.

Had 2mb connection for £9 per month and the price went shooting up to £20 at the end of my 12 months.

Phoned up and threatened to leave only to be offered 10mb for £11 for another 12 months. (thing is i dont have a BT line so am stuck with them- however don't let them know this otherwise the deal if any they offer you will not be as good as if they genuinly beleive you are leaving).

however when I checked the speed a couple of days later still 2mb speed. Checked my account online and found i had been given the 10mb M package which is effectively the free upgrade to the 2mb package. This one has tighter throttling issues.

Had to phone up a couple of times to get a new modem sent as apparently my speed was linked to the sh***y old modem i had with them and managed to get them to upgrade from 10mb M to 10mb L at the same cost.

It wont be an extra £3. This is a repost and alot of people have gone through this already.

I used to be on 10mbit with them which was charged to my bill at £25.

However if you goto 50mbit you will pay an extra £14.

Yep im paying £25 for 10mb , also I am still using the cable modem that Telewest Broadband gave me many many years ago (before takeover) when I know I should have something more up to date now . Surely if its 28 for that much then ours will go down to approx £10 .... yea right !

Kill Virgin Media, piece of crap, 50Meg, but most of the time it will be 10 Meg

Ah sorry , this explains everything and yep I dont have a phone line nor do I need nor want one . So I will stick with Skype and my 10mb £25 quid deal.

for the people after a better deal, it says this on the virgin site

I see new customers getting better deals
Some of you are seeing different offers for different people.
We're treating you all equally
We have a great range of products and prices with some tailored offers for both new and existing customers. We make every effort to be fair to all our customers alike and often write to our existing customers highlighting the great savings they can make with us. However, if you haven't opted in to receive updates from us that may be why you haven't heard about our latest offers. You can do this now by calling us on 0800 952 8078.

so you could argue your point saying that you're not being treated equally and see what they offer you
