Not sure why this went cold soquick, but it looked good to me so I've added a bit or warmth.
I wish folk would explain why they vote cold.

Probably idiots who have no intention of going to new York, so they vote cold because the deal doesn't apply to them.

Has anyone been to Newark airport? I've only been to JFK. Does Newark have easy connections to Manhattan?

Yes its preety easy to get form Newark to Manhattan by using the AirTrain service. I think a single is about $12 though (but this is the cheapest way) See the link below for more info

http://www.panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/

Ive flown to Newark before and had no problems.

Newarks the best one for travel link into Manhattan

get the air train to Newark airport station then the New Jersey transit train straight into Penn station in Manhattan, $15 each way, ive done it from Landing to Penn in 50 minutes!

Cab fare from Newark to Manhattan is approx $60. Which was cheap when I went October 2008. Bloody fortune now!

My brother lives in NY and much prefers coming in to Newark as the customs people aren't half as much *******s as the ones at JFK. Queues at security etc are supposed to be shorter too.

I've only flown in and out of Newark and it was one of the best airports I've been to in the world. Nice and quiet.

Not so Hot. I booked up couple months ago and the same flights are £80 more expensive !!
#8
I have rerained from voting as it appears these are only available flying from london airports.
#9
great prices...HOT
#10
Despite what it says, there are flights to JFK included and some fares are £223 from LHR-JFK in May
#11
Whilst I agree with the comments that Newark is the standard / busiest airport to fly into for NYC I have to strongly disagree with the comment about Newark being a nice airport. Having been through it nearly ten times it is, in my opinion a pretty ****** airport. It's relatively run down, can be extremely busy and from what I've witnessed the staff are as bad there as at any other airport. The only airports I've been through that have genuinely happy people have been in Canada.

At this price however, you can't complain at all. Looks like a cracking deal.

Nice! i found return flights for £204 to New York in May, when i want to go!
#13
I can't find them for £225 with taxs included!

You paid £145 that's almost unbelievable:whistling:
#15
Voted cold

Found a flight for only £118 but taxes, fees and surcharges added an extra £209 making it £327
On the other hand, found flights for £67 plus taxes etc came out at £277 but you have to fly out and back midweek
Not changing my vote though :p

Please let us know where as I don't believe you, unless you work for the airline or know someone who does!

You do know all flights are taxed and stuff so I don't see your point

Will be voting hot as this is one of the cheapest flights I've seen.

Voted HOT - as my tickets for sevem of us were £288, could have saved £300+ if I had waited :-(

EDIT: also, don't forget Virgin Atlantic are on Quidco - 2% discount

I went a few years ago and used the subway, very cheap.

The cheapest flights i've seen to NYC since Zoom came to an end last year.

I flew with Zoom to NYC last June and the service the airline offered was absolutely fantastic, for a 'budget' airline they were superb!
#23
amazing deal! heat added
#24
Newark is easier than JFK, closer to midtown.

yeh great last years deal! 1 pounds to 2 dollar stupid comparison

If you'd prefer to go to JFK, there are similarly priced flights around with BA. For example, 5th-12th May is £234 on BA (booking via opodo). Not quite as cheap as Virgin, but worth it if you collect BA miles (through clubcard etc).
#27
Any tips on how to get this price?

Trying to get Manchester to Newark within the dates but I keep getting £679 for flights and then £293 taxes.
Thanks

The price won't be £225 for every day ... only some will have this cheap price. What dates are you looking for? And are you flexible with them at all?
#29
Yes totally flexible, will have another look. Around end of april.
I tale it midweek to midweek is best?

Does it matter if it is 4-5 days rather then a week?

Thanks

From London only i presume.

The rules for this fare state:
Minimum stay restrictions:
RETURN TRAVEL FROM LAST STOPOVER MUST COMMENCE NO EARLIER
THAN THE FIRST SUN AFTER DEPARTURE FROM FARE ORIGIN.

So you should be fine with 4-5 days as long as you stay a Sunday. I just had a look and 23rd - 27th April is coming out at £224 on both Virgin and BA.

when signing up, peeps should go on a mandatory tutorial on how to properly vote things hot and cold and post stuff etc. not duplicates. This would make hukd a lot more accurate, I've seen identical items where the better bargain has been voted cold and the other has been up in the top 5... ridiculous sometimes. good deal tho octobergirl, heat added :)
#34
Looks like AA have also matched the flight prices (are £224 on Expedia UK). Perhaps the OP could modify their post to include these airlines too (now Virgin, BA and AA)?
#35
British Airways are same price for same dates as far as I could see.

I along with others wonder how the hell this got so hot !!!

I flew to New York from London 8 years ago and it cost me £99.00 return
#37
Cab fares are fixed from any NY airport to any Manhatten hotel at about $45 - they can't charge you more than this. Just don't get stung by the private cabs, they cost a fortune, these are the ones they try to grab you at the airport door. The yellow cabs are very good value and convenient, just are driven by lunatics with no regard for other road users.
#38
Im going on 10th April til 14th April and paid £279 inc taxes. I only looked at the flights I booked.
May is the always cheap to go to NY.

Cheers to the OP. Just booked my flights to visit my brother who lives there. £240.

October 2007 cost me £307!
