Virgin Fly SLT100 - Touch screen high spec phone,£49.99 plus Quidco

Hi all,

Recently got one of these myself.Very good specification for not much money.Fair enough, not many people would have heard of the manufacturer and it is locked to Virgin but with the recent posts of the 300+300 sim offer from Virgin it may be of use to someone.
If you can get past brand snobbery it does seem to be well screwed together and has a decent UI which is really easy to use.The touch screen works excellently with the included stylus and the screen resolution is really very good (240x320) with 262k colours. It has a 2 mega-pixel camera, built in FM radio,bluetooth,mp3 player and also comes with pc software and data cable and TV-out cable.
Having used it for a few days i can't really fault it.Call quality is very good. The only down side i can find is i'm unable to add words to the T9 dictionary but that's probably just more a case of me being thick and if you dont use predictive text this won't be a worry to you anyway.
It also comes in pink for the ladies and with free next day delivery i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Hope this is of use to some of you.

Remember Quidco!

Not sure if you could do the same but as an existing customer of Virgin (300+300 deal) i just emailed them requesting the unlock code for the handset and they mailed straight back to say it would be in the post in 7-10 days at no charge.Should be here any day now so will keep you posted.

I'd like to get this, but have some credit with Virgin Mobile which I'd like to use against the purchase. Virgin Mobile don't seem to be selling their own phone, according to their website! Mine packed up last week and the kind people at Virgin sent me a basic phone (Nokia 1112) free of charge to tide me over until I can get a new one, even though I'm on their sim-only deal. Need a new one soon though, as the Nokia is doing nothing for my street cred!

I would be well happy if it can be unlocked

My missus wants a new pink phone but is on vodafone and wants to keep her tel number still...

fingers crossed it can be unlocked and then I can spend £50 and get some brownie points!!! :p
#11
Virgin are by far the easiest phones to get unlocked, as long as you top up £30 you can request an unlock code for free and its normally through the post within a week. With no arguments or going round the houses with customer services, and the £30 top up has no time restriction so handy if you run out of credit or know anybody on virgin to make cheap calls.
#12
Good price, you can get a K800i or a Nokia 6300 from Virgin PaYG for £80 these days btw. Toying with buying a 6300 for my daughters birthday as it has superb speakers inbuilt.
#13
Thats not a bad price for a touch screen

heres the link for the company, also a PDF instruction manual

There. that's better.

Blimey. TV OUT allows direct viewing of photos.

FM record which you can pre-set to a later time/day.

Impressive.

I suspect that the keyboard is for small to average (Female) and not for the chunky builders hands.

Is this correct?
#15
What can you use the touch screen for, it's got buttons for all that stuff. Also isn't it a bit small to be usable as a touch screen, 1 finger press and you're pressing half the screen!
#16
Fly were big news when they planned to launch this touchscreen thing a long time before anyone else was ever talking about it but then i think they took too long and it blew over as i remember i often wondered what happened to them... im quite tempted to be honest but i just got a new handset.
#17
looks quite like the sammy u600

Looks like a very good phone for the price - voted hot.

But I think I will hold out for when it is on the virgin mobile shop, then you get £8 quidco.

in my experience (several phones from several manufacturers and retailers), t-mobile phones have ALWAYS accepted virgin sims, but NEVER the other way around as yet (unless virgin unlock it, of course).

That is true , have a Moto T-Mobile which accepts Virgin but a Virgin Nokia 1100 doesnt accept T_mobile .:?

ordered 2 .thanks to the op
#35
Will it play videos in landscape view ?
#36
For £50 you will not find a better spec'd phone. The problem is with the network hurdle - it could be very difficult to use on anything other than Virgin.
#37
Guys, you will love me for this.

SLT100 can be unlocked with Infinity-Box via cable

Only criticism I would make is the talk time . 150 mins is about the shortest
time I have seen on any phone.
