Looks as you should be able to get three services at £9.50 for 6 months. You can still get cashback via quidco/topcashback for £65. I think existing customers might be able to take advantage if they upgrade to tv xl, but not sure.

Website now updated.

Plus, their billings are often wrong (wrong DD amount taken) and you will never be able to sort it out. I had to resort to the DD Guarantee and ask my bank for a refund of the desputed amount.

Awful customer service, but best broadband around.

Not voitng cold however much I'd like to for other reasons. Pause for pre-rant big intake of air: Their never-ending junk mail 'onslaught' has put me off Virgin FOREVER - even if it was free I'd not sign up with them now. Complained to Virgin marketing, complained to the mail preference service who said they can do nothing due to the way they address it 'To The Occupier' at my house - it just keeps right on coming. No other company gets away with this, why do Virgin think that it's OK them? Not impressed. Rant over. Thank you for your forebearance : )

Great Deal.
I have been with Virgin for 3 months now and I have to say the 50Mb broadband has been faultless. Also the VOD, catch up TV etc is great too.
With Tivo on the way Virgin is starting to look like a very good choice.
#13
interesting, May have to give sky a call and see what they can offer me to stay on! My house is all set up for cable already too.
#14
heh my cashback still didnt track via topcashback :(
#15
also, RE: customer service. it depends what time you phone. It would seem that overflow is out of country where is if you phone off peak, you will get (mostly in my experience) someone who works in the uk

Hiya all,
Maybe more of a moan than a rant but I have had Virgin TV, phone and broadband since the beginning of August. The phone and broadband have been great. I've only one problem with the phone line and sorted in 10 minutes after contacting customer services.

TV and billing are another matter + you do have to argue as someone previously mentioned :-(
At first I'd been very impressed with the service and channels and was telling everyone about Virgin Media cable, but already Virgin Media have fazed out a lot of channels from my L TV package with more still popping up with new messages on channel is available until 5th November (noticed on Really tonight) and so on.
Also, after 2 weeks of having my V HD box it kept freezing and resetting as if first new start up , which Virgin did get someone out next day and quickly, they explained it had been happening with a lot of boxes and replaced mine on the spot free. Since the box has been good with occasional freezing and restarting but only lasts for a few minutes.
The remote has randomly stopped functioning a week ago - as if not batteries are in, so I called VM about this and they were good and replacing the remote for free but they really meant it when they said 10 days until the replacement arrives :-( so it has been very frustrating trying to change channels on the box itself + you cannot view program information nor use most of the menus correctly without the coloured buttons, nor press play/pause when using on demand without the remote!
Now, I feel the worse issue here has to be billing, in short, they charged for things that had been free in the deal - such as the box and installation and the price match £20 off deal the VM door sales guy had matched to the VM phone sales offer I'd been given so a good deal, none of this happened on the bill, so i had to argue with customer services - whom apparently couldn't do anything if it is the virgin media door callers as they are apparently not to do with Virgin Media and employed and run through a different agent/company! So as you can imagine I was extremely annoyed they would not take responsibility for this, luckly I kept the virgin door callers number and kept phoning his phones and left it on his shoulders to sort out as he'd been the person who had matched these offers and signed me up.
After about a week finally he sorted out the mess by crediting my account with the amounts that were being incorrectly billed! There has been a few issues on billing, on my second bill it has been billed well over the amount I should be paying in a normal month about 35/38 - I think the bill is 69 but also this should have been my second free month (2months free offer!) so should have only been line rental 11.99 + free evening calls around £3/£4+ about £5 on calls!
This still has to be sorted so be prepared to stand your ground if you join up but the broadband and phone are definitely worth having but will consider sky next year for TV and may even freeview hd would be better if the channels keep disappearing at this rate - I think this is poor sales service to offer channels they know aren't going to be on the L package just to get people to upgrade. If I pay more to upgrade to XL to get these channels back then what happens, find another way to bump up the costs such as the new VHD+ box 50ish and the hd channels registation free £50/100?? or even restrict that package.
So worth considering and make sure you record calls + door callers and take paper proof of everything then ready yourself for a bumpy ride in case you have problems!
Very broadband speed though and I guess I now don't feel I can trust Virgin Media with my money lol!

I hope this helps anyone who's researching and hope this makes sense (very tired and off to bed now!)
Kate :-)

PS. Sounds a good deal apart from being signed up for 18months :-S

I'm right in saying that the XXL 50mb Package on it's own is only a 12 Month Contract?

"Just" the Broadband, not phone or anything else.
banned#29
clever marketing but its NOT HALF PRICE as you still have to pay £12.24 line rental so basically its 25% off and now you have an 18 month contract rather than a 12 month one

e.g. £12.24 plus £6.25 for 10mb BB / Phone = £18.49 for 6 months then £24.74 for 12 months!

As an existing customer, I only pay £18.99 for the above anyway so not exactly a great deal tbh

Worst company I have ever dealt with. Had Virgin broadband installed on our first house and the connection was non existent! Customer services was no better. In the end we "used" the connection for 2 weeks before paying the full 12 months contract to get out of it! I wouldn't use these if they were free! Infact - as I did, I would pay to not have to use them!

I already have 100meg and it is fast and works well. Having moved house this weekend the service hasn't been switched over yesterday as agreed; the online customer tools are a sham and only show payment / bill information.

And, when you do get through to India they ask "....have you tried rebooting your computer to initiate your broadbandings....?"

So, when it works it works well but when you need anything else the customer service is a shambles and not worth the waste of life even trying to contact them.

TIP

ring CS in the afternoon as more chance of getting a UK operator. Early mornings / late nights and you'll get an Indian (they really are useless).

i call b.s.. if it were that bad you could've cancelled your product with no fees within the first few weeks, they have a money back guarantee. so basically either this really happened to you, in which case you're a little too stupid to be on these boards, or you're just trying to criticize them.

i don't work for them, nor do i have any affiliation, but my 50mb broadband has been flawless, and over my 4 years of clientelle with them i've had a small handful of issues, all of which have been resolved near immediately if you know how to talk to them and when to call.

only a muppet would pay a years contract for 2 weeks usage lol

Sorry but i fail to see how this is a good deal?
They extend the conracts from 12 to 18 months and offer half price for 6 months

Your paying the old standard 12 month contract in full and then paying a further 6 months at a reduced rate!
I left virgin purely down to their billing system ive never seen anything as confusing in my life
#38
can't believe for 1 minute their customer service is anywhere near as bad as sky. Gonna take a chance and go with virgin this time. I would rather chew my own foot off than even have to talk to somebody from sky again so I guess this is worth a go.
#39
Agree with Chamelion - you have to look at Virgin Media with your eyes open and your brain in gear.

The fact is that if you live in a VM cabled area you're lucky as you can achieve genuinely fast broadband for reasonable money. This is going to become more and more important as video streaming expands rapidly on TV and all kinds of online devices.Until BT finally catches up with optical cabling all the other BB providers who use them are simply lying with their 'up to' speed claims.

The downside is of course is having to cope with their frequently dysfunctional CS and Billing systems from time to time. OK this can be a challenge for the folks who are quick to get their panties in a bunch but with perseverance you can usually eventually outwit them OK
[mod]#40
quickest BB around but wouldnt touch them again . 4 times they took double my bill in 5 months, constant call outs about the box going wrong.

Also when virgin crashes (phone .BB or TV) the whole lot goes offline

and well for the customer service - shocking, glad i got out of my contract when i did
