No, These offer codes are available to everyone. And as for "putting your house up for sale" that's kind of a bit dimm don't you think??? I mean surely if your half way through an existing contract and rang and asked for a new contract they are usually happy to accept you, that's when you ask for this deal.... and so it's not a one off deal or suited to me, everyone can renew their contract, just in my case, it's as a result of my moving home... Please use your loaf b4 posting!!

would love a deal like this. ATM paying £22(ish) for basic phone, broadband 2mb and tv (freeveiw at best). last time I tried to arrange a better deal I was told that to remove the tv would end up costing me more for some reason. :(
#6
im paying £25 pm just for L BB, tried to get a deal about a year ago but they refused as I only had bb, they said I could get landline and BB for £27 pm but I dont need a phoneline, maybe I'll try again tomorrow

No I'm sorry It's not online, I added the link for the details of the packages.... If you call their sales team, existing customers 150 or 0845 454 1111 and sales is on 0845 840 7777 and ask....

EDIT: According to saynoto08790 you can call VM sales for free 0800 9535353 so its now free to check out if you can get this deal!!

Here's a photo of my original contract....

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee358/tomasfoley/DSC00034.jpg

If you say a friend reccomended the deal and just quote the discount codes/titles they should be able to find the combination to put the package together.... I was told this does not work when you add TV... just for broadband and phone!!!

Good luck... I'm sorry this is recieving cold marks as it's a superb deal, it's my 1st post & maybe I did'nt explain this properly!!

The reason why they gave you the phone line 'free' is because VM has the highest call charges in the country, even higher than BT. Example: Call any EU country on VM = cost 30p/min, BT = cost 20p/min and a cheap service from a BT line = cost 0.5p/min (that's 29.5p/min more than the cheapest service).

I did a comparison yesterday and VM came out highest for any national and international number I looked up, including calls to mobile numbers.

VM is as slimey as their boss. Good luck with your high future telephone bill. That's how they make their money out of you.

That's very true they're call rates are expensive, but if your clever and just use the free weekend calls to landlines, that's a great freebie, plus family can call you cheaper too than calling a mobile... So it stands as hot me thinks, considering its in addition to the Broadband at no extra cost!! Just try not to make chargeable calls or let the kids near the phone!!!

Ensure you choose the "thinking of leaving?" option as they have the best deals and NOT customer services:thumbsup:

Well than! If you have been aware of this, why didn't you mention it in your posting. I think that would have been courteous to your fellow members.

I know, you said it's your first post so I would make allowances for that but please think more careful about future posts. After all, I am sure you don't want people to enter into a deceptive contract when you know already how they will get ripped off.

Because the phoneline is FREE & most people realise the pros & cons of having a potentially expensive landline. It is a personal choice, not something that people need warning about, especially as I have said you have free calls at weekends (which I have mentioned)

You are obviously connected to VM.

As you can see HotUK members are not stupid, hence the cold votes.

lol thats very funny.... Im connected to Virgin Media so I'm going to post a deal that could save money on people's new or existing rental charges??? I must be a rebel in the company or a BT insider so... I think you have got yourself a little confused

For the record, I have nothing to do with VM, but since HotDeals ha saved me hundreds of pounds, most recently on the Richer Sounds deal (of which I am also not connected to!) I like to spread the word where I see a hot deal... I look forward to someone posting to say they managed to get these discounts applied to their account as proof I am trying to save people money!! as for all the cold marks, It's a shame, but I guess people think it's not available to them or something, my e-bill begs to differ.
#15
if he was connected to VM he would be getting the staff deal..and very nice it is too :)

I've looked around for a better deal for me than the one I have currently from VM which is a broadband, TV including V+ and landline package. Nothing comes anywhere near as good value when combined together.

Brilliant company, great products and value.

As for slimey, Branson vs Murdoch? Murdoch must be the slimier choice I doubt anyone could be slimier.

However, this deal, not so great. All the services need to be rolled in together to get the best value from VM.

lol @ Branson vs Murdoch, I think they're good too... I used to get annoyed at throttling the connection during peak hours, but for the price I'm not complaining at all.

It's good for me anyways as I stream the premiership games and the basic TV is pretty much Freeview via Fibre Optic.... I don't want their big TV packages as their too expensive, but that's just me, everone likes different stuff and i'm not big into TV

I think you should tello them you have friends on much better deals and unless they can do something better your gone!!! I have never paid £25, my first deal was 12mths for £16pm & this new deal is even better with the phone line that I didnt need but for Free its great.... If you quote the deal codes from the picture of my contract I posted that will help them to locate the deal for you.... Because I was lucky that the agent I had knew this offer was possible, the rest had to look on the system to believe it was possible!!!

Wishing u luck in ur haggling

People are voyting this cold has it is Virgin thats all. Even with the higher call charges to go with BT £11 line rental, 02 bradband £7.50 if you qualify and that will probably not match the 10MB of virgin. Thats £18.50 to start with so the extra can go to call costs. If you don not use the land line much then this is a very good deal hence will vote hot. Also yes a lot of Hotukdeals are sometimes stupid, just see how misprices and non stock items get voted HOT.

Thankyou so so much for those comments... This is my first post and I totally think this is a hot deal for all the reasons you stated... and yes people vote cold not because of the deal but because of what they think of VM or because it dosent have TV etc... But where can you get phoneline and 10meg BB for £15??? Just because this "deal" dosen't suit your needs dosent make it cold, just N/A to you.

Add on top the fact that with BT you can spend a fortune for a phone installation, with VM its £30 (where there's not allready a connection) and you can get this back if you find a friend with VM allready, and ask for the introduce a friend discount (£30 each after 1st Bill). So whatever about the call charges, just use the free calls at the weekend.

Thanks again newbie
#23
I voted it cold for the same reason given by fragaliciousbob as early as post#2
i.e. I suspect it's an individual [retention] deal tailored to you, not available to all.

If it was available to all, surely they would be advertising it on their website.

You are right, people do vote cold because they have an axe to grind or whatever. In my opinion the voting system on HUKD is broke due to these thoughtless voters and I now ignore the temperature. I rarely vote cold unless it's seriously proven, athough I frequently abstain.

Some people are unaware of how VM work, they will do this deal for anyone, in fact they are open to suggestions that are reasonable. I called them and told them I needed to save money, and they came up with an excellent plan where I lost very little (Setanta) and saved £20 per month. BRILLIANT company.

As I was saying b4, it wasn't a "retention" scenario, I was moving home, he could have offered me the same deal I was on, but because he saw a better deal, he decided to let me know, maybe he was just an enthusiastic sales rep... But to then vote it cold because you "suspect" that the deals wrong is WRONG.... and IMO as a first post, I have learnt that even if a deal is hot if the first say 50 ppl to see the deal vote on assumption or the first few comments suggesting its not as it seems then the deal is not seen on the site for others to judge as it then becomes cold and un-listed, because most deals are sorted by their hot status... It seems that if you have a reputation on this site, or if you deserve a reputation you should be less assuming on peoples posts for the benefit of all.

And No not all deals are available on their website, maybe ppl at VM didnt intend for the deal codes to be combined this way, I really don't know the answer to this.... But the deal codes are available to anyone who can say that they would like this deal too.... For as long as VM keep the deal codes active

VM are currently offering deals to keep hold of existing customers. i rang today, and they offered, line rental, XL broadband, XL TV package & XL talk for £43 for 3 months then jumps to £59.50 but i can downgrade at that point. not a bad deal i thought

This is how I cut my Virgin Media by more than half.

If you've got a Virgin phone, simply ring 150, then select option 2 then option 2 again, this will get you through to the Retentions Department. Prior to ringing them I armed myself with the deals that Sky were doing to use as ammunition. When I got through I told the guy that I was struggling to pay my bill as I was off work at present, which was true but doesn't have to be. He said ok, lets see what we can do. I had been paying £25/month for our 8MB broadband. He immediately said that we could have the 2MB broadband for the introductory price of £4.50/month for the first 6 months then it would be £9/month after that. I didn't even have to try, no effort at all. If you only use your broadband for browsing the net and not downloading mammoth files you won't notice any difference at all with the reduction of speed. I also had to change to online billing which is much better for me, less rubbish through the letterbox.

My overall bill for line rental and broadband is now £15.50/month compared to £36/month prior to a simple 10 minute phone call.

My advice to anyone ringing Virgin is to be polite, tell them that you're struggling with your bill, credit crunch etc and arm yourself with the deals that you can get from their competition, Sky being one of them.

Good luck. :)

Virgin media's retention deals are very good, so far I'm a happy customer. Broadband is much better than tiscali, TV features free on demand content which is like having a huge DVD collection and i'm always downloading so i get my money's worth.

Think i pay about £20 for basic broadband (unlimited) + unlimted landland calls (7 days a week) + basic TV channels

There does seem to be alot of ill will towards virgin media, they did mess up some of my biling at one stage but they were quick to sort me out after i found out. So fair play to them, the same could not be said when British Gas fouled up my bills, i will NEVER use British Gas again

I am on the above deal (with a second box and V+) but permanently @ £48  (EDIT sorry my BB is only L, same as the OP)

Would love to add XL TV to the OPs package, would be under £40 I think!! But then they would charge me £5 for the second box, so maybe my deal isn't far off the OPs. Did they say what they would do for you if you added TV at all??
