Virgin Medias £18pm for up to 50mb broadband is back! (Was a previous Black Friday deal).

No virgin phone line so you can save on the phone bill!

Can upgrade to upto 100mb for +£5 (so £23) a month.

£14.99 activation fee

£18 x 12 = £216 + £14.99 = £230.99 for a year!

It does increase after a year so remember to call retentions after the 11th month to haggle a discount.

If you know someone on virgin media you can get them to refer you and you both get £50 each added as credit to your account potentially making this deal only £180.99 for the year! (If not I can happily refer you to get £50 each). Need a referral? Email: strongone121@outlook.com

Alternatively you can get £20 quidco cash back (on phone and haven't checked TopCashback)

Moved to BT after sticking with Virgin media for ages.
Have to say... I'm pleasantly surprised at the service quality from BT.
Never had any downtime since I joined about 4 months ago.
I don't notice any throttling at busy times whereas with Virgin it was lucky dip at busy times.

Done exactly the same - and have also been pleasantly surprised.

Saving about £25 a month as well, for pretty much the same package.

Not had any problems with VM seems quick even at night even when streaming HD catch up through youview box
Getting 54.20 Mb/s right now with a 50 Mb/s package
Looked round my area BT maxing at 30 Mb/s some as low as 6 Mb/s cant really see how thats better
There is one VM nearby at 144 Mb/s

Line rental is included. Or the 'no line rental needed' thing. Point being it doesn't cost anymore than £18pm

I have been with virgin 50 mbps fibre for a year now after being with BT on their infinity 74 mbps package and both have been fine for me.

No speed throttling at any time of the day, the superhub 3 from virgin has been solid. The only reason why I think I have been fortunate with a reliable service is because my exchange is in the city of London.

The only reason I moved to virgin was because of BT not giving me a good deal to stay with them.

Just realised after reading this thread that I signed up for my virgin deal on the 15th of December last year! Guess I need to call virgin for a better deal today! X)

Shame about the line rental
#13
thinking of getting this for sobering as a gift, do you know if it's possible to pay off the year contract in advance? thanks

Is the line rental included or not?

there is no line rental required with this

I just moved from Virgin Media to BT, and have regretted it ever since. It took weeks for my. number to be ported, the speed is only between 6mbps and 35mbps (was told it would be 50mbps, "Infinity" my ****), and the hub randomly decides to cut off connections to my devices throughout the day, now I'm stuck with it. No wonder BT were giving away "reward" cards.

That's a good deal. Shame they won't offer it to existing customers. I'm tired of threatening to leave every time I want a new deal. When in fact I don't want to leave because the service is very good, stable and fast ( over 50Mbps)

Great stuff. I can't wait to go back to Virgin - hopefully a good broadband only package is available then.

Not sure they do that but as with nearly any company I have been with there's no stopping you overpaying and being in credit with them - effectively paying in advance

Remember folks you can get £50 credit if you know a friend who has virgin and they refer you! They get £50 credit too!

speeds vary dramatically, get 50mb most of the time, but nearer 5mb in the evening.
#22
I see the bt retentions team are trying to hijack this deal. BT is good as long as you don't use the awful home hub and pay silly money for it

But cost wise Virgin is a no brainer, and if you want a phone line and TV add £2 and get the lot until 29th of the month

Where are you based?

Throttling is unacceptable from any provider in my opinion but I've been assuming it only happens in cities where the network is saturated.
#24
Thankfully dumped Virgin, a good deal is only good if you get anywhere near what you're promised and months of 5mb when I'm paying for 100mb isn't good. Seemingly depends entirely on your area and mine is oversubscribed.

How do you go about referring someone I'm on virgin and have a mate who wants this deal ?

I presume you have to login in order to refer someone. However I do know that the person you are referring will receive an email and they have to use that special link in the email to get the credit.

Title is misleading. Line rental isn't included. The fact that it's not required doesn't mean it's included in the price

If line rental were to be included, as per your title, I could make a phone call with virgin for £18 a month. Obviously not possible as they won't provide a phone line

Because that had the actual deal that did not include line rental

This is a fictitious deal that includes line rental so is getting hot under false pretences

Every broadband company requires you to have a phone line with the exception of virgin (as the other run through bt openreach etc). I merely stated it included line rental so that people don't assume they get broadband AND have to pay for line rental when they don't. I did put it in then main description and the photo does say 'no virgin phone line'. However I see your point I merely put it to avoid confusion of people thinking they have to pay £18 for bb and then line rental on top.

I'm with Doug. Your title is misleading and should be changed to say "Phone line not Required" as it is not "included" as the title states. It's not clear until you read a few comments or click on 'Get Deal'. Meantime no doubt you've suckered quite a few people into voting the deal hot who can't be bothered to read the full description. Voted cold for that reason.

Always worth checking Uswitch for VM deals (and other sites for discount codes).

I started a broadband (100mb) and phone contract a few weeks ago, Uswitch took the standard price from £32/month to £30/month and I then stacked it with a £50 online credit found on another external site.

Effectively just under £26 per month and this was a short notice buy due to a house move.

Suckered? I've got nothing to gain from people voting hot

Ok, maybe suckered's not the right word but misled definitely.
Nothing to gain but kudos from posting a hot deal maybe.
I see you've changed the description now, fair play, but had it been like that originally I doubt this would have got much heat.

Just cancel your existing contract and take a new one on your partner's name. The guy in the VM store advised me to do that and that is what I did. I do not need landline and using BBC iplayer and kodi to watch freeview channels. My contract expires on 28 and my partner's start on 29.

Ye I posted a longer response but it all hasn't posted hmm maybe because I'm on mobile. Point being I had seen this offer and after using this site a lot I saw a deal and thought I should contribute.

Why so? Is it not a good deal? And having phone line would only cost more in phone calls I know that from me family for sure . Most people have mobiles (granted some don't), we only expect a phone line for broadband because that's been the way for a long time, this is a deal without.

No idea why people get speed problems. I'm on the 200mb package and I consistently get at least 200mb (sometimes hits 270mb!) at all times of the day.

Maybe you should give them a call as your line/router might be faulty.

Just don't get the TV, it's garbage.
