Seems disproportionate that this thread has helped people (even if its just a memory jog) yet has received so many cold votes.

Sorry if this is not a deal, more of a heads up on how to stick the knife into virgin media. Sorry for any typos as well.

I will be paying £63 and even after staying with them for 15+ years they only offered me a credit of £20. so I have opted for 'cancelling' in hope they ring me within 3 days like others.

Great! So your not looking for any big discounted upgrades? Just to get bill reduced?

I checked and apparently I'm on a discounted deal from July that I negotiated so the price increase won't affect me.
The one time I want the price increase too !
#4
Tempted to do this. Been with them for 10 years but the price increases for what I get just aren't worth it. I don't really want to go to Sky or BT but seeing some of the deals around I am tempted to try my luck.

Currently playing £58 a month for:
100mb Broadband
M+ TV and
M Phone.

It's worth a try, you could save a couple of quid.

Having only signed a new contract 4 weeks ago, and then since that we saw a nice 5 bedroom property that we wish to move to, only to discover that Virgin don't cover out to there... the price rise announcement was a blessing.

Cancellation without penalty. Ta. :)

I pay £52.57 for 152MB and M phone and just got the increase on friday. I think i am going to threaten to leave as i think the increases are getting ridicoulous. If they dont reduce so be it i will leave and find someone else.

Do It! But just to let you know you would be on 200mb broadband as virgin rolled out just 2 speeds 100mb and 200mb. Your not gonna find them speeds anywhere else.

I pay 45/month for xl TV, 100mb broadband and landline, have been doing so for ages. Everytime they send a letter for price increase I call them, tell them I'm leaving due to increase, they say they can't do it any cheaper so I give them notice. 3 days later I get a call and they drop the price again.
#10
I will give them a ring tomorrow. I also just checked and it says i can order 200MB, is it a free upgrade or is there an extra price. I just dont want to hit the order now tab as a mate did that and it just went through without warning or chance to change his mind :(

I cancelled my 70Mbit/weekend calls and took the BT/Quidco deal last week as I was 11 months into an 18 month contract, and my package would have gone from the promo rate of £22.50pm to almost £40 on month 13. Had a call on Friday from VM who offered to reduce my package to £15pm and no increases for 12m, I told them the BT deal worked out at less after cashback and they offered to reduce it to £14pm. I said I'd think about it, and they said if I agreed there and then, they'd do my package at £12pm :)

What are Sky offering new customers? I've just been on their site and I get nothing for around 65 quid...

It's not really haggling it just the case of saying "I want to leave virgin due to price increase" they can do you offer for better stuff or even wipe the price increase.

That's what I thought! Great! I wouldn't hesitate staying with them but when people are getting the same as me at £20/30 a month less I deserve to be matched
#32
I also rang last Friday to cancel all my services because of the price rise. Was also offered the £50 credit and the £71.50 offer of 200 broadband, Xl TV, weekend phone and sky sports. Not bad I thought until I asked how long the contract was. 12 months was the reply. So thats £71.50 for 12 months with this deal then I asked. Well er no was the reply. So what is the deal I further asked. Reply was £71.50 for the first 6 months and then £106 for the remaining 6 months. So beware of the promised deal and yes do the maths as advised in the original post. I'm now off elsewhere.

That's how it will always be, new customer always have a advantage. But now you can haggle or just cancel and take advantage of a new customer deal else where. Like I say in my description I got what I've wanted for the price I needed.

Have fun with your copper line. Or even your 30mb fiber with £60 activation fee. It's cool if your single man doing the usual ;) oh may I say the call out charges for when the box breaks. Oh and maybe when there's heavy downpour and your sky q and multi room is useless.
