I received a virgin leaflet through the door advertising their new packages. Big Easy, Big Bang, Big Kahuna etc.

Big Easy standard price is £20 per month +£15.99 line rental.

The TV package included is Medium. That's supposed to be the freeview channels (60+) with a 500GB Tivo box supplied, however the leaflet stated that it included Sky 1, Living and Discovery.

I'm an existing customer and called Virgin to switch to the Big Easy package without questioning the channels included. Within minutes of closing the call I had lost Sky 1, Living, Discovery and all the other non-freeview channels. I called back immediately and raised the possibility of a printing error and asked if they would honour the advert. I was bumped up to the M+ TV package straight away which has 130+ channels and was told that I would have an extra £10 charge and a £10 credit on my bills so as to receive the extra channels at no extra cost.

I assume this will be possible for new customers too, along with the "half price for 6 months" offer which would bring the cost down to £30.99 a month over 12 months.

If it's a misprice/mislabel there is no guarantee they have to honour; your personal circumstances seems to have been lucky but it's quite the gamble of locking yourself into the contract on a hope

Sky's current offer through Quidco/tcb makes the monthly price £15.56 for tv/bb/line rental with their 'Original' bundle, but you can also get the value bundle for less than your 'misprint'.

Sky's broadband doesn't compare on those deals though does it?

aaawww bless you op. you typed all this but failed. The leaflet says 50% off so you rang and they just offered you a deal. how is it a glitch or error lol

No. I'm an existing customer so would never get the half price offer.

Its a typo on the leaflet that they include sky 1, discovery and living in all the TV packages. Those channels are not supposed to be in their cheapest package but they're honourung the typo.

Again, show me anywhere you can get broadband at this speed with all those channels and with telephone line rental included. I'm still within the vancellation period so would genuinely love to see it.

Seems pointless now it's such a cold deal, but as promised, here's a scan of the leaflet which incorrectly specifies the channels.

Once they started with 2yr contracts I gave up. I don't know anyone except my parents that use a landline. Why do these providers always insist on a landline? Virgin and Sky both require one don't they?

virgin are the only company to offer broadband without a telephone line in the uk.

The fact they charge more for the privelige is due to the reduced call income I would guess.

same as getting a free mobile on a contact but paying hundreds of pounds for the same model without a contract.
