I was going to use this company a while ago but found it was the worst company I have ever delt with and I was a customer who was signing up,
Who knows how they treat there existing customers.
#2
Why are they the worst company you have ever dealt with?
#3
I have had nothing but good customer service from Virgin Media. I've only been on the phone with them 5 times, but each time they solved my problem and were courteous. In addition when I asked for clarification or explanation they gave it to me without being patronizing or impatient.
#4
:) I would have to rate virgin for the service they provide also the customer care is spot on, I would recomend this deal to anyone.
#5
Can't knock em!!!

In this case you get what you pay for.

Been a Telewest then virgin customer in Edinburgh for 8/9 years....only had to phone them a handful of times to fix things. Everytime when they were fixed we got free stuff such as an on demand movie for free or a few pounds off our next bill for the hassle. I personally cannot fault the customer service team.
#8
being a former telewest and now current virgin media customer, i am happy to say that the service has been unchanged (i.e. pretty good) even after telewest became virgin media.

but surely the sky have a free broadband package with this deal and with telewest you have to pay about a tenner for the equivalent broadband. so it is not a entirely fair comparison. the hassle involved in getting sky broadband may not make it entirely comparable with the telewest/virgin service, but you need to include broadband to make it a valid choice

I have been with first Telewest and now Virgin Media and I can say that the customer service is variable. I did complain about a customer service representative in India who was obviously having a bad day and was rude to me and hanged up the phone (when I had not been anything but courteous). When I called again immediately to the cancellations line they apologised and said they would deal with the person in question and gave me a small discount.

So they can be good but they can also be bad sometimes.

mmmm yep saves you a few quid but i have sky+ as well so how do i get around that?
#11
Ignore, misread OP's post
#12
On the other hand, Sky don't demand that you switch your triple play services over to them, they actually allow you to keep ADSL if you want it, choose your own phone company etc... Also, the Sky+ box is by far the best choice out there.

I think if you mix-and-match services (choose your own phone, Adsl and add sky), you'll beat the virgin media prices anyway.

>Virgin - Setanta Sports - Free
>Sky - Setanta Sports - £9.99 A Month

Without wishing to be churlish, most of this £148.88 saving is based on Setanta sports being free on Virigin.

At £9.99 a month that is about £120, but if you have no interest in Setanta sports the actual saving is only about £30.

btw I have no axe to grind, I have Sky+ multiroom for TV, and Virgin for phone and broadband.

Would like to move across completely to Virgin, but very happy with Sky+ at the moment.

I've had terrible service from Virgin media... I'm gertting out of it as soon as I can. My internet was down for 2 whole weeks, and that's not funny for a girl in my position! So after spending £10 in calls to technical support, it turned out that builders had damaged the line outside. Then when the internet was working again, it was at a half meg speed, compared to the 6mgish which I had previously.

So I wrote a nice compaint letter, asking to be refunded the call charges for technical support, as it was a fault nothing to do with me. They declined to do so, and have lost a customer.

Never mind that I actually had to beg them to get someone to look at the line speed issue, and beg them to put it back to the normal speed, which took almost another 2 weeks.

And what compensation did they offer - nothing.

Bye bye Virgin!

"Virgin Media:
Phone (Line Rental & UK Weekend Calls) - £11 A Month

Sky:
Phone (Line Rental Only) - £11 A Month"

That's not strictly true, since you pay BT for your Line Rental. If you handle your BT Bill online, it's only £10.50 a month. Plus if you sign up for Sky Talk Freetime you get your Evening AND Weekend Calls free (all other calls charged to Sky).

You don't save that much per the course of a year (£6) but if you do use your home phone line a lot, the Sky package may be preferable to you.

I know it's a little thing but, meh, I'm not a VM fan.

EDIT: The Setanta Pack being free on Virgin is all well and good but no use to any US Sports fans, NASN is only available on the Sky Setanta Pack.

Just got a letter from virgin saying if you switch to their e-billing system you would save an extra 0.50 a month. (thats receiving your bills online etc, no post) so thats an extra saving as well.

Personally i hate the way sky always compare themselves to virgin on there Speak, see and surf package and claim they are loads cheaper then put in the small print that you have to pay an £11 line rental to BT ontop of the figure they quote.

I think the best way to go is find the best deal and best service individually, I had Sky but the signal was terrible, called an engineer out who said the signal strength was good but wee still had the situation where the picture kept freezing on us and going blocky. Eventually a friend told me it was because of som etall trees down the road but either way sky were **** at helping me with the problem so we went to freeview then later to NTL.

Never had an issue with NTL till i moved house where they set up another account instead of transfering the old one. when i phoned up the realised the mistake but as when i moved in the customer service rep set up my modem linked to the old connection i lost my internet!! another phonecall and a long time on hold and i got the situation rectified but had to sort out the direct debits again.
All through this the customer service was reasnoble and most of the time i actually spoke to someone who could help me.
I will probably drop Virgin media and go free sat by xmas
either that or get a dodgey ntl box lol

Virgin media arent all that bad honestly it will get btr when they are using the 1 system  but need to do something with the call queues :x

Yes very true emma, Virgin has the worst customer service of any company, also on virgin you dont get sky one and sky sports news which is pointless as they are the most watched channels, stay away from VM they dont care about customers

VM support number is 0906 212 1111 (10p connection, 25 per minute) you wouldn't automatically think of using the saynoto0870.com

Just checked the number out and it listed as unverified for 0800 0521435

Phoned the number and instantly asks for a PIN number

I'm with VM and we don't have PIN numbers, so it could be an internal thing so unless anyone else knows different it's 10p connection and 25 per minute. Of course if it's VM's fault you can argue to have the call charges removed.

Ok, so some of us like VM and some of us hate VM..

There call centre in India is the thing they get most complaints about! Think there looking to move it to UK.

Hey babes,

I've already sent this to your PM but thought I'd mention it here as well, which should help some people out:

Saw your problem with Virgin Media and thought I'd let you know that if you call the cancellations/retentions department, they'll blatantly refund your fees and probably offer you an improved deal on your services to keep you as a customer.

Hope that helps. :)
