Not sure the £150 will get you BT Sports as well?! I think you get free BT free with the big Kahuna pack which is very expensive so shouldn't be included?

So from my understanding the £150 only gets you the Sky Sports channels and no HD, that will be another £7pm. No F1 included in that deal?

Could be a nice bargaining tool for renegotiating with Sky.

Still a good deal for Sky Sports from Virgin although only comparable to a Sky half price deal imo.

Thanks for that, I agree with the half price deals comparison but they are usually only for short periods of between 3-6 months, but lots of fair points made thanks

"all 6 Sky Sports channels with 2 available in HD"

You will get Sky Sports in HD, and having Big Kahuna means you've got BT and ESPN in HD as well.

Welcome.. :)
I agree.. Still touch and go for Sky. The 6 month deals only equates to a 25%ish discount really unless you can renew after the 6 months but maybe unlikely to get that mid season so cant be counted on.
My hope is that this may trigger some more 12 month deals from Sky. If not this VM deal will be something I would consider. Obviously if you don't have Sky this is a no brainer.
I am aiming to get a SSports deal for under £30 pm. Baring in mind I believe Sky has a price rise of £4 plus on the horizon.
We will see.

Not yet moved into our house so currently looking at the cheapest way to get Sky Sports. This seems a good deal although only 2 in HD puts me off

I knew this post was coming, :) the title says "Virgin media - sky sports 1,2,3,4 & 5 when it launches and BT sport for £150.00 for ten months"

That is not strictly the case bud, as BT only comes with the Big Kahuna, this includes the HD part of the deal but that cost is a lot more than £150.

The £150 only gets you the Sky Sports pack and from my understanding, if you want it in HD it will be another £7pm. (my source Sky minion)

I understand that the full set of chans will become HD shortly. Maybe worth getting some confirmation of that from VM tho. Again I heard this from a Sky rep.

Won't be any time soon as they'll have to replace all the non-HD boxes first - and drop the HD fee in the meantime, if HD is going to be standard, which is still a major cash cow for them.

These reps in the supermarkets don't have chat some waffle!

Lol the bloke I spoke to knows his stuff, not some random in a supermarket. :) I have just spoken to VM and they confirmed that the rest of the sports chans will be in HD soon, ie before the season begins. And as I said above if you want the SSports pack it will indeed be £150 plus £7pm extra for HD. Unless you already have their Big Kahuna.

Just for your information if you want the SSports with HD it will be £220 for the season £150 up front the £7 goes on your monthly bill. And if you want the full sports including BT for the season it will be a total of £370 for the 10 months.

Hope that clears things up for my fellow sports fans.

Not sure Sky will be able to compete with that tbh but we will see.

Forgot to ask about the F1 channel tho.. Damn!

I'm not voting hot or cold but beware you cannot trust a single word they say, I still have Virgin media service, minus the TV now, but I have to say I was very disappointed and felt I had not received what I paid for. If you have to phone their sales people - record it.

Arguably this is getting heat mainly for footy. News flasshhh... You can get All 380 games a year for less than this all in HD. Premier league pass. I know where my money is going. Price is good for the money. But I don't feel all if this is worth 15 a month for game ratio.

Good deal for the minority who can get it...

I'm with Sky and yesterday cancelled my sports and movies pack as my 'discount period' was up. New price they offered, with discount, came to total £57 a month. (I get free line and b/band through work so I don't need a landline). Tbh I looked into cancelling the whole thing today and move providers but the Virgin like for like pack is still way more than £57.

Just hoping Sky call me back before the movies and sport get cancelled mid-august to offer me so,e better discount!

HOT, good find op

if your on mates rates this offer is not available to you :(

So its only £150 in SD to sum this deal up? I guess there will be an install fee and the cost of the basic TV package to add to this because all I have with VM is broadband only. Plus they will wanna charge for TiVo so I'm guessing for me it would all mount up!

Not such a big deal

Phone and ask, you maybe surprised, personally I only pay for BB and phone and get M pack tv for gratis. Tivo cost is there but discounted to no cost. I paid no install either. So if in a similar situation to myself ask and you should receive especially if you are signing up for the sports deal.
And yes the £150 is basically SSports SD. For HD it will come to £220 for the season. So £22pm. Sky non discount would cost more than double I reckon. Deal or not? You decide.

Although I'd love to have Virgin Media, they won't allow me to take advantage of their service because of where I'm from, and they limit their best "existing customer" offers for those that live where VM is available.

I'm not accusing them of discrimination…

New housing developments (even huge ones) here in the North don't get cable laid, nor do they get radio, DAB radio, normal TV or 2G/3G/4G coverage. It just isn't financially viable.

Lived in a massive new development for approaching 7 years now, one of those 'new towns' on the commuter belt where the developments gets its own shops, own train station etc and I've yet to hear the radio never mind stream films.

You can get all 380 premier league games in HD.. for less than 150 a year. Probably looking at 80 a year using a free smartdns service. How many premier league games do these have combined? 140?

Edit:

Neither have tyne wear derbies.. Often you find they'll show arsenal against stoke instead or something like that.

I know. I live in one of them. We still don't get local BBC programmes in HD yet… Can't blame VM for that though!

possibly i am not getting good value with vm i pay £80 per mth i receive
sky sports 1
L tv
152Mb internet
xl phone

anyone care to summarise what a customer should expect in services for £80 per mth been an existing customer for some years

seems to me i could subscribe for Big Kahuna" package £45 per mth then add this season ticket for the sports £150 for 10mths
what happens to price after the 10 mths how much does it rise ?
£27-25p per mth presume

How many games a week could one man find time to watch?! Considering 10ish teams will be playing at the 3pm on Saturday!
Sky do show all the games albeit time delayed on Match Choice. (with the exception of BT games obviously)

But anyhoo, I take it you are on about illegal sources? Do you get free hardware for that or do we all have to buy a box for an additional £100ish quid?

I could beat this deal by saying just stream off the internet for nada but that would be daft.
