Again! ( well the £125 deal has been posted before anyways)
#2
And again a big thumbs down from me.

Not having a go at anyone, but if you sit down and work out how much each component of the package would cost elsewhere (Sky, BT, Orange, etc) then it will be blindingly obvious that this is by no means a good deal.

Also, don't be fooled by the Virgin name - this is NTL and Telewest rebranded (or should that be re-Bransoned)? I myself and many people I know have had terrible service from the aforementioned suppliers.

Look at the more affordable packages (2 for £20, 3 for £30 and 4 for £40). Tempting, aren't they? Look into the small print (T&C's) or better still speak to an NTL (oops, Virgin Media) customer advisor and all the added costs soon start appearing.
#3
Wish they'd have come in and allowed people to just get their TV service. I'd prefer to get Virgin Media XL with their PVR for £30.50 (Seriously, they've named their PVR V+?!?). But they force you to get their phone line too (another £11), thereby forcing you to get their broadband (unless you maintain two phone lines).

Sounds like a con, smells like a con, looks like a con - it's a con...

I feel that i have to rebutt this comment somewhat.
I have been a telewest customer for about 3-4 years now. When they first came to my area i transferred my phone to them and had a bad experience,I changed back to BT.
I was persuaded one day by a knock at the door to sign up to cable tv,I had my reservations because of previous experience but was assured that their customer service had improved immensely.Indeed it has,I have had nothing but A1 service since becoming a telewest customer again.we then got blueyonder broadband after a nightmare with Wannadon't (orange now,my mum is having nightmares with them currently) and have to say it is brilliant.Never, ever have we had a problem with our broadband.

I also have been a virgin mobile customer for 3 years paygo and now contract, their customer service is friendly, efficient and, again I cannot fault it.I believe that Virgin mobile has won awards in this area also.

I cannot speak for what were Ntl areas,of course, and i can assure you that i have no ties to the company in any way,I am just a very happy customer, and I also know many of my friends who we have recommended to go with telewest are also quite happy.

For sure there will be cases of disgruntled customers, there always is with any large organisation,i just feel that with richard branson now at the helm, any customer service issues that there have been previously in some cable areas will be dealt with.
Having been on the phone to them 3 times this last 2 days, dithering about what package i would like, whether i should plump for the vip thingie, the staff have been friendly ,courteous, patient and have offered me various options for my consideration.

Why are all the items EXTRA LARGE :p
#6
Because virgin think we are all children and will rush out and buy this fiasco

It's actually a good deal for me personally because i was paying more for less!

I signed up the other day and will be saving £10, plus getting a V+ box, a second STB and the 'Talk' additions which i never had previously. I've personally had no problems as a Telewest customer...although supposedly the NTL staff arent great (so it's a shame the majority of NTL staff are being kept and the TW buildings being closed).

I've actually heard alot of positive comments since this 'Virgin' name change - i'm hoping they've got big plans to revamp their services. Being a TW customer for as long as I can remember, they have always had to purchase channels from Sky....Virgin Media plans seem to be pushing their VOD service aswell and rumours of 'aquiring' a few programmes which are currently Sky channel exclusive ;)

Back to this deal though - i'm not sure whether it works out great for new customers as i've not seen what the competition prices are, but definitly for existing customers this works out better if you're currently paying for top packages already.

Quite alot of people are ordering this though, so the V+ box install dates are getting further and further away by the day (mine isn't being installed until next month!)

I've never had a problem with Telewest during the past 6 years I've been with them and I will expect VirginMedia to continue the good service.

V+ Box (TV Drive) is great, also the VOD is an excellent bonus, so this is a great deal consider what you're getting.
This new price has saved me £40 month and I have 2 V+ boxes in my household.
#9
I went for the 2 for 20 BB + TV.
It will save me about £312 per annum for both broadband and tv

same here had superb service for over 5 yrs now, not a complaint. Now sky do not get me started with their abysmal and quite agressive staff......
#11
If you have never had a bad experience with Telewest great! I just wished that I didn't have to rely on the service I receive from NTL! Sadly I have not got an option as I am unable to receive Sky.
#12
well i cannot fault NTL, with 5 yrs service for TV & BB (& a phonr up til 2 yrs ago) never had any major prob's.

BB went dwn for about 24 hrs 2 yrs ago, but then they did let every one know before it happened. & thats about it.
#13
Ok, I take some of it back....
My experience has been with NTL and not Telewest - that experience with NTL not being overly favourable on a number of times.
#14
I dont get how the 2 for £20 (broadband and TV) is such a bargain????

You can get a Virgin Broadband package for £9.99 which includes FREE evening and weekend calls...and the TV is only going to be basically FREEVIEW plus a few extra channels...hardly a bargain in my book...paying £10 extra for a few extra channells that wont be watched more than likely
#15
i just yesterday got the £25 talk unlimited phone, the £25 4 mb broadband service and the medium size tv service for £37.50 a month.Telewest have also given me excellent service for 10+ years.
#16
No way is this a deal! Sorry, dodgydave (or is it really dodgy richard?) but this has the distinct smell of spam about it.

Doesn't get my vote.
#17
I have also been with NTL for a while have had Zero problems, infact I had more problems with SKY in the same amount of time.

I signed up for the VIP deal a few days ago, you have to remember that you are getting a 3 tuner PVR, which has HD capabilities (albeit only one channel at the mo), a second box in another room and all the premium channels. The SKY+ multiroom equivalent was £55 pm so you are getting for an extra £30 a month -

10mb BB (which will be upped to 30mb by the end of the year)
Talk unlimited
Talk Mobile
Talk international
A box with a HDMI (which improves regular channel picture quality a HUGE amount if you have plasma/LCD)
Some HD content!

How anyone can say it is a poor deal I will never know, I guess it's those who just want a cheap service and aren't bothered about the quality of the picture etc...

OK so tell me where/how you can get the same for anywhere near that price!

SKY HD with all channels alone costs over £50!

 Am I missing something...

Why do people post deals that have been posted before - same deal twice in one day. Surely this is not fair on the person that posted originally. :whistling:

Now 3 threads on this subject...getting very muddled for those that want to contribute or look for help on deals

Not all areas get freeview you know?

Can't see £9.99 on their site

The broadband package you are refering to is non cable broadband.
The 2 for £20 package is for cable broadband of 2mb unlimited plus tv or phone,or any combo you like,tv and phone if you wish.

£14.99 gets you adsl broadband up to 8mb ultd plus phone with free eve and w/e calls,or £19.99 gets you adsl broadband as described plus phone with free anytime calls.this is comparable with talk talk.

There are packages for cabled and non cabled areas.Cable broadband is the best though if you can get it.:)
#22
Virgin are making these packages far too complicated!

I went to their web site and started reading through what their packages offered, what I got free, what I didn't get, how much it'd cost, how much more I'd pay on the third Tuesday of every second month and I gave up!

Ok lets work this out... This is the price it would be seperately:

Unlimited 10MB Broadband - £35/m
TV Package XL - £20.50/m
Sky Sports + Movies Pack - £23.50/m
Phone XL - £25/m
Talk International - £1.50/m
Talk Mobile - £1.50/m
V+ - £10/m
Extra STB - £5/m

Total - £122/m

In anyone's eyes that's a huge saving. Call me whatever, but I was previously paying in excess of £100 for just 10Mb Broadband, XL TV, Sports + Movies and phone rental + call charges. With just one phone call I've got it sorted.

So for a saving of nearly £30 a month I've now got free calls, cheaper mobile and international calls, a V+ box, as well as an extra STB. If I wasn't already giving £35/m to O2 I'd have definitely taken up the £125/m VIP pack as well. Really if you're looking for the top-end of the market this is incredible value.

EDIT: And the only reason I posted this was because the £85/m pack had not been mentioned, only the £125/m.

Hardly spam, it's saving me £10 a month and giving me more than what i had before.

Even if Virgin doesnt get any 'new' customers, how you can call it spam, when across many forums people are saying it's saving them money on what they're currently paying (digitalspy for instance has quite a few large threads on the subject and plenty of people signing up to it).

Even if it's just a good deal for existing customers, it's still a DEAL. Like i said earlier thoug, not sure on Sky prices, but i doubt they'd be much cheaper (possibly more expensive when adding everything together!)
#25
Just spent an hour on hold, then to be told to ring another number for my "deal" and been on hold for another hour.... great customer service - not! Think ill go to Sky.

Really? It was very quick and easy for me when I phoned yesterday evening. No more than half an hour on the phone.

And in response to those cynics who think I'm spamming/marketing/whatever, I'm just a regular guy who found what I thought was a great deal. It's saved me a packet and it's saved other's I know a wad of cash too. Maybe next time I spot a deal I won't post it.

I sent them a nice email -

"I have just spent over an hour on hold phoning your 0800 0730591 number. Prior to that I had waited onehour already on hold to your 0845 4541111 number. This is discraceful, awful customer service, I know youre busy but I shouldnt have to wait this long. I wonder if Richard has to wait this long when he has a question?

I am seriously considering moving my TV and Broadband over to Sky. Their deal is £44 per month, which includes a Sky+ box and Sky Sports, and the broadband is the equivalent to your XL package. Is there any way to get through to you to ask if you can match it before I cancel? Its painful waiting on hold for two hours, and I dont feel like I can wait all that time again. Please feel free to contact me on ******. I promise not to make you wait for two hours just to talk to me."

Looks good to me. I pay over 100 quid per month at the mo! will give them a call:thumbsup:
#29
 Ages on the phone?
Not for me,i have spoken to them now 4 times this last 2-3 days,on hold for no more than a minute. In fact, just got off the phone now and decided that i am going ahead with the £85 package, after much deliberation.
The sales guy was fantastic, answered all my queries, there is a wait for install,as i expected, got my date (4 weeks, but put on priority so they may be able to bring it forward) even snagged caller display for free,if you don't ask you don't get!

I used the freephone number 0800 953 5353,so try this if anyone is having trouble,it's the sales line.

Dodgy dave(not dodgy at all;-) ),this is a good deal for those wanting the best of the best,i think folk see the price(sharp intake of breath!) and are not looking at what they are getting.

I have worked it out thus:
what I was paying -4mb broadband,tv all channels bar movies and sports£45.50.phone line free eve and w/e with call display£11.50,hubby's mobile £25,75 mins and 150 texts.

total = £82 per month

Now i will be getting for an extra £13 per month....10 mb BB,pvr jobbie, extra box in another room, free anytime calls, movies and sports,300 mins and 300 texts for hubby's mobile.

Seems a great deal to me:thumbsup:

I don't understand:?

I'm an existing customer, what is it you are wanting to do?

Maybe the number routes you to different call centres,I dunno, but I honestly have had great responses when I've called, numerous times these last few days, and they have always rerouted me to the correct people.

I am in a telewest area though(as it used to be) and their CS is great.

So sorry that you are not getting what I seem to be getting:-(
#39
I used the 150 number, took me about 10-15mins to get through (which is about normal for that number...at least it is for me!)
1 Like #40
As I mentioned in my Thread, I was waiting for £35 mins to get through to 150 number on my telewest service but the lady explained that they are trying to merge 3 call centres together and it is taking time.

PS it was actually me who created the £125 Package Thread but I understand the £85 one is better. I ordered online and it says someone will call in 48 hours, bit gutted as I thought the packages would get upgraded instantly.
Anyway there does seem to be a lot of threads on the Virgin Media packages, is there anyway or merging them?
