Virgin Mobile Sim Card & Free Broadband £15.00

If, like me, you are not able to take advantage of the free braodband offered by Talk Talk or Sky, this offer may be good for you.

If you purchase a Virgin Mobile Sim card (costing £15 per month) Virgin will give you free broadband for a year. They offer the Plan 2 which is usually £17.99 per month. This gives upto 6gb usage per month and up to 8mbps speed.

The Sim card can be put in an existing mobile and offers either 200 mins and 500 texts or 300 mins and 300 texts per month.

Hi Ricky,

That sounds a very good deal. Great post!.

Just logged onto the virgin.net web-site and this deal isn't obvious (that is unless i'm not reading through the right page/section). Should there be a link to VirginMobile.com that needs to be clicked on in order to read more about this offer or is this definitely posted on the virgin.net portal?.

Found the URLs:

http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/simCardOnly.do
http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/simCardOnly.do#free
http://www.virgin.net/freebroadband/

Thank you.

probably needs to be a link to virgin mobile not virgin.net. My mistake.

I think I have added the right link now

Good post, particularly for those of us 'in the sticks' where other 'free broadband' offers fear to tread.

If anyone is on Virgin Broadband at the moment you can still make use of the deal by getting a SIM through the channels mentioned above and then calling their cancellation number - they will transfer your account instantly.

I saw this deal and though great - I already pay £15 per month for my broadband and have a pay as you go costing about £ 8 month Virgin sim so I opted to sign up with them for the £ 15 month sim and free broadband.

I called up and gave them my bank details etc... and then asked about who would sort out my broadband and they all seemed a little confused. I was given a number to call - broadband technical help at 25p a minute. I phoned the customer service people back and complained as a new customer I am not prepared to pay 25p a minute to sort out my broadband. I was given a freephone number, where the people there tried to give me the same 25p a minute number. I then asked to speak to a manager, who stated as it was a brand new deal there was some confusion - I stated I understood but felt that they should have briefed their staff on the deal. In the end I now have to wait for my sim to arrive and then call them back the new number they were giving me- which they said they didn't have! so they can set up the broadband account.

Arghhhhhhhhhhh!

Hi,

Please note that, whilst considering opting for free broadband access via Virgin.net/freebroadband Virgin.net don't allow for re-grades for customers who exceed the 6Gb monthly download allowance. Normally (from what I understand) they send an e-mail followed up by a phone-call gently reminding customers of the 6Gb monthly download allowance and their t&cs suggesting that they re-grade however this is not an option on the free broadband access via Virgin.net/freebroadband.

Namesco's offering (names.co.uk) might be an alternative to consider, free broadband acceess (512kbps, 3Gb monthly download allowance) for 12-months with a £60.00 set-up fee that goes to BTWholesale. Namesco allow for the 3Gb monthly download allowance to be exceeded however this is chargeable at £1.00/1Gb.

Hope this is of some help.
