Might work a treat for some who are still looking for summer holiday options. Obviously, the more the kids ( up to 4), the sweeter the deal! Happy booking!

Birmigham tickets are £50, Liverpool / Manchester tickets are £80 and Glasgow £130 etc. You get to book your seats going out but return is flexible. Just hop in the unreserved compartment!

Copied from Virgin's website:

This summer, we're offering some fantastic fixed-price family fares on routes to and from London Euston.

Take your family to Birmingham for a mere £50, to Manchester for only £80, or to Glasgow for just £130 - there's lots of other destinations to choose from too. Don't worry - you won't have to prove you're related. Our offer is valid for any 'family' with a minimum of 1 adult 1 child and a maximum of 2 adults 4 children.

Family fares are also fantastically flexible. You'll need to reserve your outbound journey, but you can return any time, on any Virgin Train, within one month of your outbound journey. Plus you can book any time up to the day before you travel without worrying about the price going up.

So whether you're planning a staycation, a last minute trip to the seaside or an adventure in the city, our family fares make it cheaper and easier to get out and about together this summer.

How to get the deal:

- Book your tickets on virgintrains.co.uk. You won't find this offer anywhere else.
- Book your tickets from or to London Euston.

- Our Family offer is only available for standard class tickets.
- Travel to and from Glasgow is excluded during the Commonwealth Games
(23rd July - 3rd August 2014)
- Some routes may be disrupted by engineering works, click here to see if your journey is affected.

Hop in the unreserved during school holidays - it will be busy! :'(

a bit naughty though as you can but tickets from Manchester to London for £7.50 (each way) if you book in advance.
So if one adult and one child are travelling with a family rail pass this would be really cheap (even without a rail pass this would only be £30 max)
However on the Virgin website - the minute you put in one adult and one child - it directs you to the family ticket for £50! a bit cheeky!!

Very true for super organised people who book tickets 12 weeks in advance and London-Man is £12.50 one way.

Hop in the unreserved during school holidays - it will be busy! :'(

The Euston 'race for a place' train seat event (on the way back) is very exciting and the kids will love trying to get a seat and ending up sitting 2 coaches apart and stuffing a hastly bought burger king

The highlight of every journey! I'm sure it's always been the same platform when I've done it!

I haven't bought these tickets but surely you can book seats if you wish to? It should work the same way as open return tickets where you have the option to book return seats. Euston is a horrible station. I think one of these day someone will badly get injured due to a stampede!!
