Virgin Trains - £11 Manchester to London

You need to use the fare checker - tickets not left everyday etc - but great if you can get one for you.

Not impressed. Already booked for £16 before this came up.

Finding a needle in a haystack is normally easier than finding these fares, and when they do turn up, they are at a time no normal person would want to travel. More of a publicity stunt than an offer.

Personally I'd look for those Virgin fares via the Southern Railways Mixing Deck at
http://tickets.southernrailway.com/sn/en/JourneyPlanning/MixingDeck
The availability of those £11 fares seems to vary greatly day by day - eg one day late Nov = none, next day = loads.
No fees at their site for credit cards or ticketing (at station, sometimes via post).
MKD

BTW: You can head NORTH at those £11 fares in at least some of January too, though not back! (An "anytime" single is £131!)

Waste of time. It'd be quicker to walk to London and back than find these £11 fares.

A similar deal to this was posted a few weeks ago, and I nearly booked some tickets. It was going to be a bit of a pain going from Manchester as Liverpool suited me better, so thought I would check this too. I found that by using a Friends & Family railcard (there is a code on here to get about 20% off somewhere) it was actually cheaper to go from Liverpool. Just needed to book 2 weeks in advance to get saver fares.

It cost me £66.60 for a family of 4 for the Liverpool/Euston return fare,

The other big bonus about using the railcard was that it took money off the tube fares too. Day long lasting (off peak, after 9.30am) Zone 1 and 2 underground tickets were reduced to £5 for adults and a measly pound for kids.

Came back on Tuesday- had a great time!

Well I've found loads of dates on there! It's saved me a fortune as I've booked NYE in London for hubby as a suprise, and I only paid £11 per ticket, was expecting to pay loads more :D

Yes there is mate, I have used mine many times. Around £7 with 16-25 railcard.

You can also use Mobitix for Manchester to London journeys only (have tickets sent straight to your mobile) for as cheap as £8 (no railcard discount with this one though)

Never heard of this site so thanks for the hook up! Got Manchester to London return leaving xmas eve back 30th December for £21.75 with a young persons rail card, that's amazing seeing as virgins own website wanted £38 for the same trains!
