''There are no excuses not to get out and about in Britain this year as Virgin Trains and The Daily Mail have teamed up to offer you great value fares to top UK destinations. All you need to do is collect 3 tokens from The Daily Mail between 09 13 February to take part.

Fares are as little as £2.50 (standard, single) per zone travelled, or why not travel in style from as little as £7.50 (First Class, single) for the first zone travelled and then £5 per zone there after. Live it up a little and enjoy complimentary food and drinks served at your seat on weekdays.

Book online starting from 12 February until 29 April 2008 and you can travel from 13 February to 30 April 2008. Travel is excluded over Easter from 18 to 27 March inclusive. Up to 4 people can travel on a set of 3 tokens, but remember to take your tokens with you when you travel as they validate your promotional tickets.'' (VIRGINTRAINS.CO.UK,2007)

Remember you need to start collecting from today in order to take part of this offer

WOW! This fairly beats the pants off the £140 single fare I was quoted from Preston to Glasgow last week.. oh hang on... that's what would have been paying for this offer :p .

I've voted this hot because it just makes travel SO much cheaper!!

However, since being stuck on one in scorching heat for five hours with the air conditioning broken, sun blazing in, no way to open a window, people passing out and drinks available... I havent travelled with them since, that was three years ago. They are utterly unreliable, be it cancelled seat reservations (WHY??), carriages being "out of order" (HOW??), air conditioning not working, or trains just not turning up, I've lost all faith in them.

No excuses! There is when they don't include bristol on the map!

I'm torn. It means I'd have to actually buy the Daily Mail.

In order not to break my principles, I'm going to have to nick the voucher from my local library's copy.

Yep, only catch with this deal is you have to buy the Daily Mail. Thereby supporting the spread of lots of propoganda and lies. hehe.

I know that there's alot of places guilty of that but the Daily Mail wins first prize to me for distorting everything to suit their agenda. and sometimes actually lieing to the public to do this.

How do you book the tickets? can't see anywhere to click on the link

thanks

Hmmm weird. How come so many virgin trains to and from bristol temple meads then?

I can't find any routes for this weekend... hoping to go to London from Manchester on the 15th and come back on the 18th. Anyone got any ideas?
#16
Any tips on how to 'collect' the tokens from previous days?
#17
Gone to www.virgintrains.com/dailymail and clicking on "buy now" but I get the standard prices.

Do you have to key in a promotion code? I can't see anyway of obtaining the £2.50 prices. Any ideas anyone?

Try this link.

If you've got the vouchers fancy scanning them in and uploading them? :)

It's OK. They've fixed it now. The link did go to the standard page. It now directs to just the available Daily Mail promotional tickets.

Well the service from Cornwall to Scotland (Cross Country line) is definitely run by arriva... the trains still look the same I think they just re-branded them...

Anyway I tried to book a train from Bristol to Birmingham using the link and I can go for £5 each way, and that service is ran by Arriva so it seems this offer is still worth it for us Bristolians!!
#22
Anyone got any spare tokens before 12th?
#23
Did anyone scan in the previous day's ones? If not, lets hope for a bonus token!

It did http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/01_wk4/rail_voucher.gif

Do you think it'll be valid for this year?
#26
Does anyone know how many journeys one can make on a set of tokens? The Arriva terms and conditions in yesterday's paper mentioned 4 return journeys but today's Virgin blurb doesn't seem to mention a specific limit (or I haven't read it properly)?

Thanks
