Good price for those who cant or dont want to go down to ASDA to find out that this is not avaliable or not on sale

Virtua Tennis 2009 will again allow you to take on the worlds top tennis players in some of the most realistic courts to be found on gaming consoles. Take on the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer or play as Maria Sharapova against Venus Williams to recreate some classic court battles. Joining this impressive roster of tennis stars are several new players for 2009, including mens World No.4 Andy Murray and ladies French Open champion Ana Ivanovic. In addition to the traditional singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches, Virtua Tennis 2009 will also have the official Davis Cup license, giving players the coveted opportunity to lead their country to glory!

Better than Top Spin 3 ?

More of an arcade tennis game than a simulation one - I personally prefer VT to TS.

I'm still trying to decide to get this (I've played it on the PS3) or wait for EA's Grand Slam Tennis.

Little tip to get the game online for £19.99 add vt and any preorder game which makes the total over £50 then add lastminute09 coupon. Once the order goes through just cancel the preorder and hey presto vt for £19.99.

Word of warning - this game takes FOREVER to become interesting. I must have played for 10 hours so far and have only lost 1 match and probably only 4 individual games in that time. It is painful working your way up through the amateur ranks as it really slows down when you get up to around 20th position. You need to get into the top 8 and get to the final in the end of season tournie to progress to a pro and I haven't got that far yet. Other reviews suggest that it improves then - it had better do as winning match after match without losing a point is so tedious. I only lost to a mime artist whilst wearing fancy dress!

Might want to put the format in the title ;-)

This has got to be one of the most boring tennis games ive ever played. Glad I only rented it.

I've won about 15 tournaments without losing a game and am still only ranked 84. You can only play 3 different types of shots.........you can never hit ball out, wide, long or into the net. The list goes on and on..,,,,

Seriously, Ive got a tennis game on my phone which is more fun.

Bear in mind that this game has very little changes implemented from Virtua Tennis 3, which can be picked up for around a fiver in many stores (max £10 new). Graphics are similar, gameplay is the same, there are a few tweaks to the modes (e.g. career mode training) but they're still ultimately the same.

It's really not worth the outlay.

As for the difference between this and Top Spin, Virtua Tennis is the better game if you want "fun gaming" with people who don't really play console games, or random mates who haven't got the time/patience to learn a new game and all the intricate moves/timings/buttons etc. This is as pickup-and-play as it gets.

With respect to Hinzy9's post, yes the game is like that, but I've found that playing with others locally it can be very fun as the game switches from timing/hitting skill to more or less guessing where your opponent will run to (or hit the ball to) and winning the point by getting an initiative. With the Xbox 360/PS3, there aren't many games that are noob/casual friendly and still fun, this is one of the few that is.

If anyone wants a more challenging tennis game (i.e. more hardcore fans) then Top Spin is for them. I have Top Spin 3 on the 360, and I've rarely touched it. It's difficult to play imo, things like movement become far too constricting (e.g. if you move one way, you can't switch quickly as it's "realistic" so balance comes into play). You also have to time the shot perfectly, both in terms of beginning the swing and the aim - very easy to go through an entire set constantly missing the ball with this game.

THIS.^

I won 40 odd tournaments on the spin without losing a single game and literally a handful of points and I just got into the top 20 of the amateur before being truly sickened by the boredom of it which is a crying shame as if they left out the ridiculous amatuer crap then you have a excellent fun tennis game.

The graphics are slightly improved from 3 as is the gameplay with less annoying little swing glitches or dives. There are more mini games as well which again are great fun, even the online play has improved, well for me it did with no lag at all but I still couldn't recommend this due to that stupid inclusion of the amatuer ranks.

Honestly it really is soul destroying winning tournie after tournie playing generic comp characters with orange afros, rarely even losing a point only to see you've moved only one or two places up in the rankings.

If you can get 3 for around or under a tenner then get that and wait until this comes even further down in price.

ive been a loyal Virtua tennis fan but this game is boring, why put loads of content in the game but make it so boring with rubbish AI?

Get Virtua Tennis 3, better game, fun.

i cant really comment because i havent played the game but the fact that it takes ages to get to number 1 at least gives the game some much needed length

In VT3 it was way too easy to get to world number 1 and then it just became boring

its not the length that counts its the quality of the game! About 40 hours to complete, 5 of which are fun!
