This is a deal that's appeared in various forms before, but it's still really useful for a trip to London or somewhere else on the South West Trains network, like Bournemouth. I've had some really good days out using this offer :D Its from Friday the 19th of May until the 14th of July, excluding 21 – 26 June (Glastonbury).

As usual, there's a few tweaks this time so it is worth reading the T&Cs, there's restrictions on the times you can leave and arrive at London/Clapham Junction etc. and the time you can leave London/Clapham Junction etc. is slightly later than before. It's two pounds cheaper as well this time so four pounds per return cheaper. This ends in July which is different from previous years, but I expect there will be no offers during the massive works at Waterloo in August.

Another difference is that this time you can book on the day of travel, but allowing two hours for collection. I'm not sure if you can book in person, it doesn't make that clear but obviously online is fine.

Most of the big museums in London are free, and the big parks too like Hyde Park, Regent's Park etc., and you might be able to combine it with the 2-for-1 offer: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/2for1-loads-london-attractions-including-london-madam-tussauds-london-zoo-etc-with-2482495 You can see some of the most well-known sites in the world on a budget.

Otherwise, Bournemouth is really nice for a sunny day on the beach with the kids.

among many countries I seen, UK is the most expensive train ever. something is wrong with the prices here.

If you're really unlucky I might be the one driving you up there...!

BTW thanks to the OP and good work mentioning the August works ( half of Waterloo is closed folks and fewer trains) and the 2 for 1 offer..

Hope they do an offer in October for inner London when they bring out diesel tax

voting cold this time as this promotion is usually around this price for a return ticket whereas this year its for a single making it £36 return for 1 adult and 1 child! Last year we did this in school holidays for half the price.

Used to be 12 per adult return ticket and 5 per child, of peak, so family of 3 cost 29. Now 62, not a hot deal for me

Good luck if they run on time and grubby smelly trains. Sorry but cold

With the chance of bumping into Diane Abbott, I'll give it a miss.

A single ticket for that much? Ice cold! This isn't a deal, not even sure why it was posted.

It's a deal because the standard off-peak return from my location is £71!

I've paid £62 for two adults and one kid (under 5s are free) for returns from Bournemouth to Waterloo. It might not be as good as last year but it's still a good deal and gets a vote from me.

South West Trains offer however trains to the South West are excluded from this promotion!

Routes west of Yeovil Junction (Crewkerne to Exeter St Davids, inclusive) are excluded from this promotion.
