Hot i say. Have been recently looking for a 26" for the spare room. Cheapsest one was at Argos for about £260. Nice find this one.
#3
Do watch out from the eBuyer Pix that it's a bit restricted on standard inputs with just 1 x SCART and 1 x HDMI and 1 x Component, but then it is only a 26" TV. (Has PC VGA & a S VHS connector.)
banned#4
any that are better?
#5
will this be any good as a pc monitor? or will the resolution / contrast be rubbish?
#6
not bad. However only 40 quid cheaper than the 32 they had on offer last week. Still hot.
#7
good price for a 26" - about time these came down in price a bit
#8
is vistron a well known brand, are there reliable
#9
Vistron is like Ebuyers own brand. But i mean its a cheap price for a tele so its a bargain lol. Also apparently they sometimes use Samsung Panels so cant be too bad
#10
Vistrons are not reliable.

The price on this TV is quite good, but some of the specs on it are not. You definitely get what you pay for with TVs.
I also have a 26" TV, but it is a Panasonic TV with much higher specifications. It can be used as a PC monitor (with a dedicated PC port), has HDMI X 2 / Scart X 2 and more importantly has a much better contrast ratio of 8500:1 and uses 100Hz Motion Picture Pro software to smooth out the screen. This means no blur on fast motion images.

All these were reasons I went for the more expensive TV.

This Vistron is good if you just want cheap, but I would not have even considered it while I was looking.

The choice is yours, obviously.

Until theres an in depth review on these tellys I'm not touching them. Ebuyer is known for manipulating reviews.

The Exquisite
Vistrons are not reliable.

Can you enlighten us? Or are you just a 'big name brand' fanboy?

I've bought 3 Vistron TV's this year, and all have worked perfectly without any problems....

Dynamic contrast ratio is not the true contrast ratio. I wish people wouldn't compare the two. In truth, most quoted dynamic contrast ratio's are worthless.
Some manufacturers do actually have the decency to quote both stats, but it's getting rarer.

EDIT: Oops, sorry for the double post, was supposed to edit this one into my previous post but forgot.

I bought a 22" Vistron from Ebuyer: Not happy.

- Flimsy case
- Switches itself on from standby (usually in the middle of the night) - No power button, so have to switch off at wall socket.
- No SKY remote code
- Appallingly Tinny sound. I mean really bad - Zero bass.

This maybe better than my 22" TV but I will not be buying another Vistron.

Just my opinion - I am sure others will disagree.

Hot Hot Hot...great price for a 26" Flatscreen...

Vistron are a s good as any of the other brands out there, They also use Samsung panels amongst others..
And like every other brand of tv out there they all use a mish mash of components from lots of other manufacturers and then just stick there own brand name on...

I've got a couple of year old vistron 27" and my only gripe is the slowness of the response on the remote buttons and the fact is does change back when auto switched on scart. They are OK for a second TV (bedroom, conservatory etc) as mine is but no for your main viewing TV.

Just had this delivered today, I didn't want to open it as it's for my son, but on closer inspection I noticed the box had been resealed.
So I've opened it, not removed the tv yet but took out the box with the extras and found the manual has writing on the back and the batteries are wrapped in cling film.
I'll wait for my son to come home then set it up and let you all know what I think.
I'm not happy that ebuyer have sent me a second hand tv when I bought and paid for a new one.

You do NOT need/want to accept 2nd hand goods! Raise it straight away on the ebuyer online system (dont have to spend £ on a phonecall) and I would expect them to promptly resolve it for you - I've always found them ready to correct any erorrs - if not then straight to trading standards as that is flagrant mis-selling. May as well take some digital photos (with phone if necessary) of the state it arrived in as pix often speak louder than words.

I have also bought the 22" Vistron from Ebuyer and it has the same fault. i.e Switches itself on from standby .
I have returned it to Ebuyer for repair. Hopefully it will be OK after that.

Switches itself on from standby
99% of the time this is down to the fact that a Scart connected device power cycles/scart voltage fluctuates..

This also happens on an old portable TV of mine with my PVR being the culprit.
#24
where can i get a decent 26" tv (reputable brand) for a good price.

no

it runs at 1366x768 whereas a 20 or 22 inch monitor will run at 1680x1050. you can get 20 or 22 inch monitors for about the same price. my dell 2007wfp cost 240 early last year when dell had a sale - very good monitor
#26
Got it set up and it seems ok, I was expecting a major problem but it's looking fine.
The picture looks hazy when in tv mode via scart, but it looks better from further back in the room, this could be some settings or just the fact it's a cheap tv, not tried pc yet as my son is playing on his ps3 via hdmi and it looks real good.
#27
For the guys with the Vistron 22". The reason it switches itself on in the middle of the night is because the default sleep timer is set from about 1am to 12.50am the following day - therefore switching itself on.

I have the 22" cant fault for the price for a telly in the bedroom that is watched every now and then.

Couple 26" TVs in Argos for £250 each. If it suits your budget I'd rather go with Argos, ASDA or Tesco instore (all have sub £300 26" on offer the last I looked). A lot easier to return for most people and hassle-free.

Acoustic Solutions LCD26805HD 26in HD Ready LCD TV 529/2789 £249.99
Acoustic Solutions CTVL26W3HD 26in HD Ready LCD TV 529/3276 £249.99

Or £300 with Freeview:
