32" HDTV (1080i) with integrated DVD and Freeview.

I've been looking for an integrated HD LCD for the bedroom and this seems to fit the bill. Easily the cheapest I've seen and the non-DVD version gets good reviews. There were 400 in stock yesterday and now only 350 - so others seem to agree! :-)

Looks like a good deal for a second room, as it includes the DVD player. 1500:1 isn't a bad contrast ratio either. Only one HDMI socket though, so that's a PS3 I guess. Only one SCART as well. Luckily with DVD and Freeview built in ...

I like the idea of only needing 2 cables (power and aerial) - perfect for the bedroom.

This was £299.99 a week ago..& ebuyer seem to be playing with the prices :)

Hold on if you're not in a hurry for them to drop the price again

Are you sure? I've been looking for a 32" FREEVIEW/DVD/HDTV for a while and I haven't seen this on Ebuyer's site before. Even the non-DVD version is £330 (and that's a slower response time)

The nearest I could find to the spec was a Prestigio model - but that has no Freeview and is generally inferior in other areas (and £440!)

My apologies... the price I quoted is not for DVD combi

Loads of people have negged this - would be interested to know why? i.e. Only reason for neg is surely that they know of something similar that is better or cheaper. Care to share it with me?

For me it would be either the 32 inch Hitachi for 299 or the brand new and highly specc Toshiba 32AV model for 410. Also I'm wary of integrated dvd players as they tend to fail after a year (ie just outside warranty)

Do either the Hitachi or Toshiba have a built in DVD (which is the main selling point for me)? Plus the Tosh is £70 dearer - you're moving into a different class all together with that.

As for the DVD failing after a year and being out of warranty, that's academic. If a drive fails within a 'reasonable' time then your statutory rights entitle you to a repair. A warranty is always in addition to those rights and doesn't dictate a limit on when you can get recourse from a vendor/manufacturer.

I'd be surprised if you got anything but an offer of a repair at cost to you if it failed outside the 1year warranty, even if you do cry foul and cite your consumer rights.

Anyway, was just answering your question as to why people would consider it a bad deal...
