Rather nice bit of kit & easily backed up on all those 1 & 2Gb SD cards that have been posted recently.

Jessops price is £69.99, Tecno £32.44, a bit of snooping around has found that they are the same company.

I am wondering how this compares with the Kodak CX6445 which is on the forum currently, especially as I have ordered the Kodak one!
For example, the Kodak has the better zoom but is a 4 megapixel camera, whereas the Vivitar is a 5.
Any thoughts?

I saw a prog on tv a little while ago and the kodak cameras were providing better pictures than some other "Top brands" with higher pixels. For us oldies, we remember kodak cameras when they were the "cheap and cheerfull" of the 1970's. If I was not a "Snob for Canon" I would go for the Kodak.

Not used a Vivitar Digi but they centainly used to have a fair rep for third party SLR lenses.

Vivitar were probably the best 3rd party lens maker for a while. Sadly those days are long gone, just some company trading on the name of vivitar. Megapixels are not all equal and more of them does not always equal better. The 4mp Kodak will almost certainly have a better image quality, which will probably be mostly down to the lens used. Kodak make very good digicams, with pleasingly saturated colours amongst other positives.

Having said that. The vivitar for 30 odd quid represents very good value for money.

......and pretty good flash guns too. Often had their lenses but I stll think he did the right thing with the kodak. They are not the best looking cameras on the market, but if its results you want then its the kodak. If you have the dosh, then for me its Canon every time.

.......But for £32.00 this 5meg has to be a steal!!
