Probably a bit of brand snobbery and price - there are lots of good cameras around at this price (check for Kodak's and Fujifilm's - there's loads of offers easily avialable) and afaik, Vivitar do not actually make anything themselves it is just rebranded Taiwanese or Chinese cameras. Generally though you can get a better camera for similar or less money.

That may be true, but none will have 'Vivitar' on the front of them. Premier make a nice budget camera.

Do I have this right....are you suggesting that Vivitar is a Premier make??? :w00t: :giggle:

Yes this is the sort of present your grandparents would buy you. I remember getting TCR as a kid, all my friends had Scalectrix.:-(

You'd be far better off getting a decent Canon Powershot camera this weekend and taking advantage of the bank holiday promotion to get £50 cashback on it. For about the same price you'd end up with a much superior camera!

Not at all. It was suggested that you can get some nice budget cameras. I am simply saying that Premier is the name to look for if you want a decent budget camera, not Vivitar. Vivitar should be merged with Mattel, as their kit is no better than a plastic kidz toy.

Vivitar, Premier, Concord and other lesser known brands should all be avoided.

Their picture quality is terrible. I used a Vivitar for a good few years thinking the quality was the norm. Bought a Kodak and was amazed that I had been used to such a **** camera for so long. Kodak images was blur free and the file sizes were smaller but pictures were crisper and sharper.
