I had a Vivitar before, 5MP though. I got put off by the name at first as I'd never really heard of them, but they are very good cameras.

Voted hot.

I've had one too and I'd have to disagree and say they are absolutely dreadful. Mine broke after 3 weeks and fortunately I took it back and swapped it for a Pentax.

Steer well clear of Vivitar IMHO....

I have had the 4MP version of this camera for about 2 years now and have found it to be a capable little happy snapper.

Pros:
* Pictures a very good in daylight, though not so good indoors or at night.
* Has movie mode with sound, though limited to QVGA resolution.

Cons:
* Prone to motion blur when scenes are backlit.
* Not quick off the mark when you press the button.

All in all I'm happy with it.

And for a shade under £55 for this, it seems quite good.

I have a Vivitar Camera, similar to this one, all I can say is it is OK, but don't expect Fuji / Canon/ etc. quality at this sort of money.

Not bad value, personally I would rather spend a few quid more and get better quality.

Still voting it Hot because it is cheap enough for some peoples requirements.

I would have to agree you get what you pay for, even though it is 8mp dosent mean a lot as you could have 25mp's and if you have a bad lens it wont take good pictures, the lenses that Vivitar are mediocre at best, so if you can spend a bit more and buy a camera with a decent lense, but I'm not knocking Edi's post as its a good deal for that specific camera.
