VMWare Fusion 3.1 is currently £27.99. The nearest competing price I can see (using Invisible Hand) is £42.41 at LambdaTek (no idea what their postage is). Fusion has an RRP of £64.99 and is usually found anywhere from £42 to £60.

Note - VMWare Fusion is for Mac OS X only.

Additional note - If you want similar functionality but for free, you could check out http://www.virtualbox.org/

Depending on what your requirements are VirtualBox may suffice. It's open source and cross platform (Windows, OS X, Solaris and linux) also. Perhaps worth checking out before forking out for this.

Cheers

I'd like to point out that yes, VirtualBox is free, and does a lot of the same stuff, but as someone who's been using VirtualBox and evaluating VMWare Fusion, I elected to put down cash for the latter. Features like using a BootCamp partition as a VM and better seamless integration modes put VMWare into a different league.

Ultimately I thought that what made this a deal was the difference between the offer price and the RRP. Not the fact that there are competing products with differing feature sets. :-)

Cheers,

Hot......Virtual Box may be free but it's not in the same league as this or Parallels

Agreed, but as I say, it may do the job, depending on your requirements.

I've added a note to that effect in the main text - I think that covers all bases :-)

You also get a free year's McAfee VirusScan Plus to install on your Windows partition with this, got it a few weeks ago when it was £20.99 and is easy to install and configure...

I bought this on October 14th, and VMWare is now doing a £20 rebate for purchases after the 15th!
