Most places have now sold out of the NON EXPIRING (ok, technically 270 days) Vodafone USB broadband dongle, and its been replaced with the version that expires after just 30 days, requiring a £15 topup every month.

I've had several of these previously and i was getting around 4 months of regular internet access out of a £15 top up.

If you even think you *might* need a broadband dongle, this is the one to have due to the cheapness to run.

What makes it 270 days?

I've no idea. I think they just expire the remaining credit after nine months.

I had previously got them off play, ran them three months or so then sold them and got my money back when i'd finished using them. Ordered one without thinking off play as usual, and it was the 'new' type, designed to bring in more revenue for vodafone, so i sent it back.

Happened to come across this today so i've ordered one. I'd say its just a matter of time before they sell out and are replaced with the expiring ones.

Sold out of this type on AMAZON and PLAY. Grab one while you can!!

hot find so does it run out every 270 days and then you top up again and then you have another 270 days again??

If you have the K3565 USB Modem, then you only get 1GB of data for £15 but there is no time limit on the credit as long as you use it regularly.

If you have no credit left and have not used it for 180 days then your account will be suspended but can be re-activated by topping up your account.
After 270 days without use, and if you have no credit, your account will expire.

If you have credit on your account, but have not used it for 180 days then your account will be suspended, but can be re-activated by topping up your account.
After 270 days without use, your credit will expire and after 360 days your account will expire.
TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband can only be used on pay as you go.

according to vodafone....

Can you post a link?

The only one i can find is an expiring one for £29.99

#14
OP why did you need several of these? do you only get the 270 days and your switched to expiring? Is the non-expiring this dongle based? I would have thought all new customers would be placed on the new expiring thing?

no, they're end of line stock, so your best bet is to ring your local store and ask.
they should be either 22.99 or 22.97 (can't remember now as our store hasnt got any left)
#16
You can pick the SIM cards up for a tenner on Ebay.

I usually only needed them for a period of travel and at the time they were making as much on ebay as they could be bought for on PLAY.

No, the non expiring is down to the dongle, not to when you start using it
#18
may be a daft question but can you
take the sim out of this ?
i have a laptop with a sim port
and two others without
#19
Nice One OP! Used £20 of ancient clubcard vouchers to bring it down to £4.99

How does this work?

I have been thinking about one of these for a while - just to have - I am studying part time and my internet sometimes plays up.

If you can get mobile telephone reception does this work? Or are there other requirements.

The reason why I ask is that I am in Northern Ireland
#21
The 270 days is about if the "SIM" remember the dongle has a sim in it is NOT used Vodafone will remove it from the network thus making t void. So as lo ng as you surf for more than say 1 minute every 270 days you will be fine. I have one of these and they are simply superb,.

Also to make it even better phone up vodafone and they will remove the "adult" bar, but i think they (if i rember) charge you £1.00 but credit back £2.50 to the account so your £1.50 up!!

I live in northern ireland and coverage has been fine. Like any network it varies from place to place. I think this would be ideal for you, and if it doesnt work out, flog it on ebay.

Does anyone know if the bulk purchase policy is seperate for mobile phones and mobile broadband, or do both contribute to the same 5 per month count. And could I order a phone and a dongle on the same order without getting cancelled.
#24
£5 delivery should be added to title (free delivery to store only at selected locations)

Must be down to the SIM card not the dongle surely. That's how it usually works.
#27
yeah, got mine for 22.99 when Currys last had the offer on.
#28
I've had one of these for about 18 months.

Topped up initally with £15. Has £15 already loaded on it. So has £30 in total.

Current balance is £22 odd

And i've been using it adhoc (on holiday in UK, at work when downloads of .exe are banned and in the street or train.)

Cant get better than that for £8

I am using this dongle also on adhoc basis,

Has already £15 loaded onto it, and i received £1 bonus for registering the sim card.

Current balance is £15.84, Great only £0.16 for around 6 months adhoc uses.

sorry for the thick question.
why is this deal hot? do you pay £25 for 9 month? is it unlimited?

Sorry im not with you here, do you have to stick it in a mobile phone and dial that? Why do you need to do this? Is it to top it up or something?

as I bought a sim (no dongle) on ebay I didn't know the phone number for it so had to put it in my phone to find out
you don't need a phone to top up, you can do it online, at a cashpoint or buy a voucher, but you need to know the sim's phone number

if these come with the phone number in the package then you just need to create an account on www.vodafone.co.uk to get the extra £1

sorry I dont get it are you using it on a pay as you go basis instead of converting it to 1GB of data that lasts for 270days?

Surely in their T&C:
"If you have credit on your account, but have not used it for 180 days then your account will be suspended, but can be re-activated by topping up your account."

means that if it is not used for 180 days then it will need a top-up. What you are saying about using it for 1 min before 270 days have lapsed must be wrong then.....
#38
Very hot find, but out of stock for me in Ashford, Kent
#39
Although out of stock, it does seem like a 270 day thing....

Tesco
The Vodaphone Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband dongle gives you broadband access at speeds of up to 3.6mbps, without a fixed contract or Direct Debit, giving you freedom and flexibility to use the internet wherever you are.

£15 top-up is already loaded, giving you 1GB credit straight away with 270 days to use it in before you need to top-up again.

if you check your usage online it shows how much credit you have left, not how much data you've used, same as with a normal PAYG account
just checked mine and it has £13.80 left on it
