On live chat, I managed to 'upgrade' to the 12GB plan for £16/month. This means I get 4GB of roaming included without affecting my contract terms.

I hope this helps out a few people with sim only contracts, though I realise it's not for everyone.

Does it work for people on phone contracts too?

I'm not sure, but definitely worth trying! It's not something that is officially advertised for sim only plans either, so I don't see why they wouldn't allow it.

You can always upgrade on any plan, with any network. They're making money from it. Different story when you want to do the opposite and downgrade if you're not getting your money's worth from the contract, but understandable on phone contracts when you're paying for the phone.

Thanks OP. Trying now. Operator says 50% seems "unlikely".
Maybe i should try to get another operator! :)

Tried again, and the second operator said 50% wasn't possible, which i find hard to believe! They will probably call me in a few days. Anyone else had any luck?

Wouldn't trust them again, I guarantee you bill won't be as agreed oO

I signed up again a couple weeks ago, managed to negotiate 6 months free and then 30% for remaining 6 months for Unlimited Mins & Txts + 8Gb Data (2Gb Roaming). Also got a sure signal box thrown in too. I checked my online account and they had indeed applied it with 6 months worth of credit :)

Just upgraded myself and got a second line at sane time

Good news is I got 2 lines with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 4GB of 4G data for £10.70 per month including 40% discount plus got 3 months on one free and £30 of credit. Means each line is actually costing £8.10 per month.

Bad news
It has taken me about 7 hours of online chat to get the credit and the 40% discount applied. Their chat support team will tell you anything you want to hear to get rid of you even if it isn't true.
I ended up demanding the upgrade team and told them if discount wasn't showing on my account by time chat finished I was cancelling both lines. Suddenly discount appeared on my account.

Long and short is you will get what they say you will but it will take work and threats to get it done.

Totally agree with you. Their billing is shocking. However, i complained a lot and have now ended up paying around £6/month on a 6gb sim only deal, so they do take complaints seriously unlike some other companies :)

Good work! To get them to do what you want them to do in 7 hours is actually an acheivement. Can takes days/weeks sometimes from my own experience.

you've got to remember that the sales staff are not the best for discounts. they do not have the flexibility of the retention team. always best to give them notice and await the call from the retention team. I've just tried to get a new phone 4 months before my contract ends and the staff were unable to offer anything like the current deal I have. I will wait to give them my 30 days notice them play chicken

Nice, if it stays like that...

I've complained lots too on wrong billing, but never got anywhere, well on the phone I have just never comes to life..

I've also written to them with proof of my contact in writing, guess what, I've still heard nothing after months..I give up. They are Muppets, it's hard work with then, never again..

Hey is this 4GB data included in the 12GB plan or is it 12GB UK data + 4GB roaming for £16?

They used to charge me for spotify even though it was included with my contract, So I demanded compensation every month for wasting me time. So my £13 a month contract was £3 a month for the final 6 months!

I believe it's 12GB in total, 4 of which you can use abroad.

When did you get this and is it with 40% discount? I tried them and they said they cannot give me this deal.

I got Unlimited Mins & Txts with 8GB Data for £13.20 and first month and half free so around £11.69 a month. I was after the Sky Sports Mobile free with this but the lady wouldn't budge said she couldn't do it as I had to go for the £19.20 a month deal. Still in two minds to keep this or go with EE 16GB deal with Cashback.

It's not an upgrade but a price plan change. The difference is that for a price plan change, you can change to a greater monthly cost bundle at any time, without the end date of the contract changing. With an upgrade, you commit to an extra 12 months, but only within the last 3 months of your contract.
