via a code i dont know with it being brand new if you could get it free i will look into it for you.

Vodafone has adopted the o2 policy hence they dont lock their phones anymore. Even if you find them they are locked, just find someone who has a vodafone pay monthly contract and give your imei no and ask vodafone who will generate and give the code for you ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE.

i thought the phone had to be at least 12 months old of this to work?

and if this is o2s policy why are all the iphones locked to there network then?

This is correct. Can also use PAYG account to unlock but I'm not sure what the criteria is in order to get a code.

Most new Vodafone phones come unlocked anyway

Yes Vodafone will unlock the phone for free if you're Pay Monthly customer, I've done this a few times already ... did this last month on a Samsung Tocco Ultra.

PAYG will cost you £20 from Vodafone, they will deduct it from your credit.

Not a fan of this phone, however hard to argue against at this price, voted hot!!!

Was free on PAYG when I did it last Nov but like I said, don't know the exact criteria....maybe you need to have been with Vodafone for a certain time or have a minimum spend?

If you've been with Vodafone 12 months on pre-pay I believe they'll do it for free, within that time they'll charge you 20 pounds which is taken off your credit. As mentioned above though it should be possible to get it for free by asking a contract customer to do it for you although I'd expect Vodafone to close this at some point.

Would it be possible to get someone who has been on vodaphone pre-pay for 12 months to unlock the phone for free?

I have a 5800 locked onto Orange here was wondering if Vodafone might be kind enough to unlock that for me? Or just Vodafone pay as you go phones? [am on a vodafone contract].....

It has to be a Vodafone branded phone otherwise they don't have the unlock code.

thanks john.... any idea what the cheapest price to unlock a 5800 is then? Got quoted £15 at one local shop.... Thought it would be cheaper online or something?

The Iphone is an exception, just as the Storm is on Vodafone - neither network will follow their normal locking policies and instead will refuse to unlock either phone regardless if they're out of contract and the subsidy has been fully paid back.

It might be very hot deal , but before that you must know what comes in the box ?
It says 8GB card included only , what about Stereo Headphones ?
TV output cable? Plectrum Stylus ?
If its fully equiped , than its HOT !

If you have a friend who is a Vodafone contract customer, possibly - not sure about other methods.

Depends what you want in a phone, the Iphone is a lot flashier with its slick interface and media presenation plus it has a well supported app store. The 5800 in comparison looks basic but it's a very good smartphone - reception is excellent and the OS has supported basic features like multitasking for years which the Iphone still doesn't.

thephoneunlockers.com appears to unlock it (via code) from Vodafone for £14.99. They seem genuine.

I'm going for it, just ordered the phone.
