I added it by mistake to the outlet deals. Can a moderator please either move it to the Dell Business Deals for me or let me know if I can do this myself?

Thanks

Thanks for letting us know, this should now take you to Dell Business site :)

Welcome to HotUKDeals by the way...

Thanks :) That was fast!!!

This offer seems great. When I checkout tho, it asks me for a business name and address....?
Am I okay to order this even tho I dont own my own business? I've selected "I'm NOT exempt from tax" thingy...
#5
If you just enter your name under the business name it should be just fine.
#6
Not bad but will wait for the inevitable free delivery over the Easter period (wihout the logitech extras)
#7
Ordered mine now. A bargain as far as I'm concerned.
I paid £336 (without quidco) with a mouse, webcam and upgraded 6 cell battery.
#8
Anyone prepared to pay a little more should compare this with the Vostro 1500 deal posted (by micloi as well :)) here:

Great Deal micloi. Wednesdays are great days for deals with Dell. Voted Hot

All Dell's deals get refreshed on Thursdays don't they? Certainly the current promotions all say today is the last day for them...

There seems to be almost 2-3 new deals a week coming from dell these days. I think they have to meet some volume targets before the year end (31 March) so expect even better deals in days to come.
#13
Yep - i'm hanging fire to the Easter w/end.

Hoping for something similar around the £250 mark

Dell's financial year end is 31st January. Still, the Dell deals seem to keep on coming.
#15
..actually the price after Quidco comes out at £292.16..not £289.

Remember the Quidco 5% is on the VAT exclusive price.still looks like a good deal though, although like others I'll wait for the free delivery offers that'll hopefully come through very soon :-)

Thanks to the OP
#16
that was a free delivery offer!!!!!!!!!!
#17
By adding the accessories that the OP posted you get free delivery...
#18
POSSIBLY A BETTER DEAL. £10 more.

Using the same method the more professional looking/lighther Core 2 Duo 1.4 Vostro 1400 with a built in quality webcam can be had for £315.
#19
Mike, the last post on the above thread somebody is saying Dell are quering the business order, is there a way around this?
#20
hot. Not bad! Comes close to the february deal.
#21
You can change the mouse to any on the list and still get the free delivery.
I went for the kingston optical USB mouse. I hate wireless mouse/kbs.

Have you a link for this deal ?

You do realise that the Vostra 1000 we're talking about here is a 1.9Ghz dual core.
The one you're asking for a link too is only 1.4Ghz dual core.

I ordered a 1400 before and have had 3 technicians come to fix it for me. 2 in the UK and 1 in Canada. Each time, they come to my home to fix it. So it doesn't matter if you have a business or not.
#26
I understand that I CAN do this process via the website and understand that they will fix it etc. But I just wish to know the actual legal position before I buy.

Thanks for your prompt reply anyhow.
Anyone got any idea.

Anyone can buy from SB site, just put your own name in the box thats says business name and when asked where its to be used answer "Home"
I have an email from dell stating that consumers rights are unaffected when buying from sb site and you will have no problems with warranty claims either.
The only bug in the pit is that if you get it and decide to return it for a refund just because you dont like the look of it you may have to be a bit stronger to get a refund than you would have if you bought from the Home site as SB site say they dont offer a 7 day period under dsr, even though I have it in writing that they do and will.
#28
Yes, just select "Home" use and also make sure you select you're not tax exempt.
#29
You can't use quidco with Dell Business I believe.

Yes you can. You can't use quidco for Dell Outlet or the Dell Employee Purchase though. But then again, the small business laptop I purchased a few days ago did not get tracked.

From someone who is not the most adept techie in the world................is this a good laptop that would be capable of playing games such as Age of empires, civilization etc? and is it worth the processor upgrade to the 58?

cheers in advance
#33
Whilst you dont get the web cam it is now worth buying the Vostro TL60 CPU model instead at £327. (just go the dell.co.uk and select business laptops)
As well has having a very decent CPU (at least as far as AMD is concerned) it has a choice of an upgraded Vista OR XP PRO.

Whist the TK57 is akin to a Core 2 Duo 1.4 the TL60 is akin to a Core 2 Duo 1.8.
TK CPUS have half the cache of the TL CPU's.

As LadyEleanor says the better spec one has been available since just after midnight and was about the only thing of note from dell this Thursday so far.

I didnt start another thread for it or we will soon have all the Vostro 1000's listed!

Dont order from the DELL business site. They messed my order up BIGTIME and are dragging their feet bigtime on a solution. I spent 30mins on the phone yesterday and about 60mins on the phone today. What a load of clowns!

On one e-mail they confirm the price of my order as £336 at the top, and then £305 at the bottom! Even with this evidence in front of them, they still wont admit something has gone wrong their and and keep telling me ive put the order through wrong and that i have to basically live with it.

Im so annoyed right now. I'm waiting for one of them to ring me back to conclude todays drama, so I'll keep you all posted. But use the HOME site, the business customer service are a nightmare to get anything changed on.
#36
just get onto your credit card company. Cancel it if you have printed evidence.

Must admit I was a little bemused how you managed to change the items and still get the same price John.
#37
I upgraded the order from a 4 cell battery to a 6 cell, so the price should have been £336. They are infact charging me £336 for the standard 4 cell battery... when it should be £305. They said they'd call me back within half an hour and that was at 11:30am today... I'm still waiting for the call.

I have a receipt quoting two different prices for the same item, so can I use this to cancel the order with my credit card company? I've obviously not entered a contract with them as no price has been agreed. If I get no joy when I phone them tomorrow I just want to cancel the order and have done with it.
#38
Hot deal, but I would take the Logitech V220 Cordless Mouse off and upgrade either the cpu to TL58 or battery to 6cell. The Logitech V220 Cordless Mouse off ebay for £6.

Do anyone know if there any bonus like extra discounts or free printer etc when ordering over the phone, as I read there were at times. As I'm interested in Vostro 1700 models.
#39
Seems a great deal.....but I'm holding out for a deal coming up on the 1500 or the 1700 as I like the idea of a built in firewire port.

I also like the fact that you can add an extra internal HDD to the 1700 (see Mike T's blog for details)
