Isnt this the same Dell deal posted a week ago, but more expensive here? Is the spec different?

The link doesnt seem to work for this either.

The chassis is strong magnesium alloy.

For £428 you can get a C2D 1.6 with the 8600M GT 256MB which seems a good option for a cheap gaming PC; £410 after Quidco.

I can only seem to get this down the £462 and then - Quidoco it still works out a little more than £428 unless my maths are really really bad.

Are you just following the instructions in the original post and then making the above two adjustments?

You need to start with the Product Code N0215001 and not use the one that the link in this thread takes you to which is N0215002.
Then you upgrade the CPU and GPU and you get the price I mentioned. You get XP Home or Vista Basic as opposed to Vista Home Premium which the more expensive option gives you:

N0215001 - £427.70
N0215002 - £462.95

Ah got it thanks.

Surely the £427 inc the upgraded processor and the gfx card is far better than the original offer.

For £50 there is an upgraded processor and more importantly the upgraded 8600GT??

This would be a good gaming machine if you were looking for a D2D chip that is.....

for a cheapy you can get the 1.86 Celeron M540 with the 8600M GT beast for £330 DELD.

Crazy config but it in games it will beat by a mile the Core 2 Duo 2 GHZ with a 8400M GS at £500 ish
#8
But as said before won't the Celeron drop out of date when new games come out so you will end up with a 8600GT and then a processor that an not keep up?
#9
Or if you had a 1.6 ghz C2D with a 8600Gt surely this would still out perform the Celeron?
