e2save have brought back the Virgin "SIM ONLY" contract with 6 months free line rental on a 6 month contract (after cashback) after which you can cancel. You get 150 any time, any network minutes and 150 text messages per month.

This is great if you don't want a new phone, don't want a long contract because you're waiting for a new phone to come out or otherwise. The important thing is that you phone must either be UNLOCKED to any network or locked to Virgin... either will do.

You initially pay £15 per month to Virgin Mobile. The deal works by cashback which you claim from e2save at months 3 and 6 (a total of £90 over 6 months). I suggest that you send these via recorded delivery. You have 30 days from the date on the bill to send your claim: plenty of time!! The whole thing then works out as totally free... and you've just gotten yourself 900 free mins and 900 free texts out of the bargain. If you wish, you can also purchase via QuidCo.com for £7.50 in extra cashback.

Enjoy. :)

Safe deal.. thanks ducky :)

There was the same deal but with carphone warehouse instead

Think i might actually do this deal sometime soon

I have just received a text message from e2save saying my six month contract is about to expire.

i am yet to see any cash back from them.

if you are happy with paying £15 for 150 text and 150 minutes then go for it and any cash back is a bonus, if not find something else!

Edit: ohh and Quidco refused to pay on this transaction

Thanks Ducky.

My 12 months with Orange expires next month.

Might go for this as I want the N95 (or new N95 8GB version) or W960i (not yet released) as my next phone and E2save's cashback is very reliable.

Will this offer last long?

I would rather go for a 12 month free cashback offer with free phone and more quidco.

I've got a Virgin PAYG. Does anyone know whether I can sign up for this deal and transfer my mob. number? Then after 6 mths transfer it back to PAYG.

I've tried to get in touch with CPW, but their email facility does not work.

Help is appreciated

As long as this company are reliable, then this is a good deal. But beware of these cashback companies, as they can easily wriggle out of paying you by changing their terms and conditions.

And make sure you send your claim via recorded delivery, otherwise they can say they never recieved your claim and not pay you!

DONT DO THIS OFFER

GO WITH CPWH ITS ONLY £2.50 QUIDCO LESS

you get the same offer but dont need to wait for 2 cheques.

quidco is only £5 but thats not a big deal and you only send of month 4 and get a cheque for £90 rather than have to make sure you get the two cheques.

My wife tried to do this when Carphone Warehouse were doing the same offer. Between CW and Virgin they made quite a mess of it. First she had several back-and-forths where each would say the other was responsible for setting up the contract. Then she was told by someone at Virgin that she could transfer her old PAYG number to the contract and so they set this up for her. A week later Virgin put the number back on PAYG and said it should never have been done because they aren't supposed to do that, and that she would have to either cancel the contract or stick with the new number it came with.

In the end she did the latter and is keeping the old PAYG number ticking over until she switches back to it after the 6 months is up. So in short, it seems the answer to your question is no.

I would take contract and use number then just dump at end of 6 months and revert to payg number.Virgin keep payg active as long as you make 1 chargeable call every 12 months so unless you have loads of contacts to change number it"s a fab deal, shame its not 12 months free !;-)

e2save are owned by the Carphone Warehouse, a reputable high street retailer.

There's lots of smaller companies who try to provide cashback deals and have cashflow problems with money going out and none coming in and they can't pay, and some blatantly try to fob you off...

It's a shame that all of the retailers are tarred with the same brush and that the customers who don't know how to claim and refuse to follow the advice we give them will end up spoiling it for the rest. C'est la vie.

Personally, after having to take E2Save to the small claims court to get my last cashback, i will never ever ever deal with them again. Far too much stress.

Personally I have never had a problem with e2save. Did you not follow the rules?

This deal has already been posted, but with Carphone Warehouse rather than their subsidiary e2save.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93543&

There doesn't really seem to be any point in going for e2save. With carphone warehouse same amount of cashback, but it's all paid with 1 redemption, after month 4, rather than e2save's 2 redemptions after months 3 and 6. With Carphone Warehouse there is 60 days from receipt of the bill to send it in, rather than the 30 days with e2save. Seems a bit of a no-brainer to me.

In short, it's an identical deal but better terms with cpw.

My wife took the CPW offer and did manage to transfer her PAYG number although like you it wasn't straight forward and was passed back and forth and when Virgin actually did it they managed to lose the free minutes but did sort it out eventually. So you can do it but it's quite a bit of hassle and probably depends on who you talk to. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed it will not mess up the cashback!

If you take out a new contract and aren't just 'upgrading' a current number with the same network then no you aren't supposed to be able to keep your number.
While your number is with a network that number is a person, that person must buy the deals they are offered from virgin, not buy a new number (or person) and start again.
Where as if you join a different network they are happy to port you over.

It's simply an attempt to discourage people from taking only the introductory offers
#19
I've got this deal when they did it 4months or so ago, its all been ok so far. Apart from the signal strength is a bit poor on this network, Orange has always seemed better.
#20
I used e2save 2 yrs ago and they were brilliant, but now been ripped off too many times by other vendors, CPW, etc etc (and yes, they keep on changing their T&C)- I am going to be a PAYG from now on :(

hi i have this with cpw, in 2nd month now only 1 bill to send cant be too bad!

Followed the rules to the letter which is why they paid out ( plus costs and compensation) before it got to a hearing.
You have been lucky.

Id get it with CPW, more reliable and you only need to send in 1 Chequeback on the 4th bill month. £90.

How do you search for this deal on Carphone website when going thru' quidco? Cannot see any links which takes you to the SIM only offer deal, although you can directly go to it by following the HUKD link :?
#26
I took the deal in April and had no problems with e2save re:cashback. Although the T&C have changed, you need to be organised and send the claims at the right time. I can't comment about bills lost in the post.:whistling: Oh, you can't port from Virgin PAYG to virgin contract

On LHS - under Pay monthly click on Every phone and offer. Then halfway down on LHS there is an orange box "Phone and Tariff Checker". Clock on that, then step one starts with Select Phone - go to the last one on the menu, which is Virgin SIM. There you will find it! (Took me a while...)

If I took it out this month , the 4th bill will be January 2008 right?:?
#29
My 12 month E2Save cash back is almost at its 12th month and i have had no problems getting the cash back at all.

In fact , i even forgot the send in the first bill which would have voided the cash-back deal but i said the paperwork was a bit misleading as to which was month 1 and they sent me the first cheque anyway.

Overall this £35 p.m contract with 3 has cost me £2.99 a month with a FREE nokia 3G phone. Can't complain, and service/reception on 3 has been excellent seeing as 3 use their own network with roaming on O2 and Orange you're pertty much sorted.

I bought this from CPW a few weeks ago. Actually a great deal!

I was happy paying £15pm for 6 months anyway.

I had an extra £5 Credit from Virgin show up on my first bill (no idea why).

I am expecting to get my £90 back after 4 months.

Also, this tracked on Quidco at £60, although it hasn't been validated yet - I was only expecting £5.
#31
@zmonster , So u'll send the Jan bill for £90 cahsback?
#32
Thinking of going for this dela as my Orange contract (full 12 month rental cashback paid by E2Save!) finishes on 20 November.

If I order this now will the new contract begin immediately or when I activate the sim card?
#33
How do you cancel it at the end of 6 months? Do you need to give one month's notice?

Yup. I'll send my fourth bill as per CPW's website. I've had cashback from them with no problem before.

UPDATE: This has now been validated on Quidco at £60!

So, if I get my cashback, and if CPW pay out to Quidco, then I will get 150 mins + 150 texts + £60, all for free. Not bad.

I'm on Virgin at the moment and about to leave so I phoned them to ask this the other day. Officially you have to give a month's notice, but in reality you can cancel it just by calling them and I think you'll just pay the line rental pro-rata for the days until it's cancelled.
