How does this compare to a 275gtx?
#2
I think the 275gtx is on par with a HD 4890 and that gets decimated by the HD 6850
#3
I wouldn't say decimated, probably about 30% performance boost. The 6850 is a little faster than the 5770, which is a little slower than the 4890 which is slightly faster than the 275.

Well maybe not decimated but it would be a good upgrade from a 275GTX in terms of speed, Power consumption and DX11.

Ive got a 275gtx too but think that the upgrade to 6850 isn't really worth it. I'm more looking at the 6950/70 and the 570gtx which are the current equivilants to where the 275gtx used to be placed in the graphic card heirachy.

Dx what? :p

Only a few games support it, and it's debatable whether it's worth buying a new card just for a handful of games.

My 4870 is still enough for me for now.

Can this run Black Ops? Mate needs a gfx card.
#8
For this price I'd much rather go with the much faster 5850 from OcUK - yes, the 5850 is faster than the 6850 (due to AMD changing their naming system).

The Radeon has the letters first and then the numbers (HD xxxx) and the nVidia is numbers first then letters (xxx nnn). Hope that helped. :|

Will eat it for breakfast. Seriously the framerates will be creamy smooth as its a console port and this **** all over the graphics in a PS3

Ive been thinking of upgrading, i own the 4890 and to see any massive difference you have to spend way more money that's why i haven't, at the moment the best bang for your buck is the 480gtx which is the second fastest graphics card there is but its a very hot running power hungry card and before someone says something stupid that doesn't include cards with 2 gpu's.

This does not Decimate the 4890 at all, at best you could expect there to be a 20-25% increase in speed but in the real world that's best case and if you own a 4890 then there's no real reason to upgrade yet unless you must have a DX11 card the 4890 can still play most games on max settings so untill theres a better bargain im sticking.

The other thing is this cards cheap but is a rubbish brand and personally i would want a better Make card so if it does go wrong you have some fall back that said Amazon are the best company ever when things break but would they be the retailer that handles RMA's of a faulty card or would you have to send it back to the oem. 140c and Amazon still have 6 left so nobody has bought one.

DX11 oh that old argument again lmao! Well a reduction in power consumption and increase in performance is a good place to start, of course depends on what you're using already as to whether it's worth the upgrade if you're using last years £200 model then obviously not if you're still sitting on an HD3870 then duh.

Dragon Age 2 supports DX11 which I bought for £22 off a link on here the other day so they are out there and it's not like there won't ever be more games using/requiring it

VTX3D are owned by Powercolour and are supposed to be their eastern branch (russia, asia etc) but they sell them for such low prices peeps are starting to see them more and more here in Europe. Basically they are Powercolour cards which are budget but not bad budget ;)

One has bad drivers, one has really bad drivers that rarely get updated.

Is this likely to be flashable to a 6870?

No, only the v1 of the 6950 is capable of being flashed to the 6970.
#22
Looks good to me.
#23
Still 4 left in stock oO.

I thought this was a great price. £12 cheaper than any other 6850.
#24
my advise, buy 2 of these and crossfire them, better performance than a 5970, phenominal value
#25
All gone now.

Decimated means by 10%, so its more then 3x decimated.....

Mine came today. It was lacking a molex to pcie connector cable, fortunately i have one spare anyway, but a serious deficiency, the lack of a 10p cable will cause problems for some.
#28
Mine also arrived today. It seems really quiet in operation and getting some fantastic framerates.
#29
Just tried Crysis 2 at 1920 x 1080, vsync on and very high detail and getting over 50fps.
