same here - soon get a punch in our local pubs if someone started playing this lol

it was bad enough during the south africa game, but right now they are still using them for greece vs north korea. not gonna be able to get away from them in any match lol
#6
Pretty much had to turn the volume off yesterday as the noise from them was driving me crazy. If they're that bad on tv, wonder what they're like in a packed stadium?
#7
i seem to recall one countrys supporters banging drums all the way through a world cup :x

I did the same, I hope the tv broadcasters are workin on a way to suppress the crowd noise and up the commentary.

Cant understand why the locals enjoy it, its mental

Pretty sure these are free in Tesco if you buy a certain newspaper

same here - having to watch the korea game now with no sound

its completely ruined the world cup for me so will probably only watch england matches from now on and that will be down the pub :-D

They are annoying but it is beginning to wash over me. If people were to start using them over here it would be a different matter.

At least drums/trumpets/brass band etc are tuneful, these things are just a monotone droning sound.
#13
These things are really annoying! RUIN the attmosphere for me. Hopefully the proper supporters will start chanting and hopefully these things will shut up!
One guy at Postsmouth (fat git with church bell) matches makes me never watch their matches.

Couldn't agree any more
Damn things are driving me mad and we are only 3 games in
#15
Never mind the noise they make I just don't understand why people want to blow into them CONSTANTLY for an hour and a half. I rememeber being a kid and taking a rattle and things to football, you use them for five minutes then get bored and put it down. These things just go on and on and on. and on. and on. and on.

and on.

I turn TV sound off and listen to TALKSPORT LIVE Commentary

For some reason they seem to dullen the sound of these horrible horns
#17
stupid annoying things !! they spoil the games
#18
Just bought 2 for the kids - just to annoy all the English holidaymakers! ha!
yes, I am welsh and am very bitter that our team are always crap!

Bah! humbug! bet you lot are great at christmas - Margaret! Margaret! call the police that man has just pulled a frickin cracker and is enjoying himself ! These same people would be up in arms if they were told not to make a noise at a football ground - what? I cant sing my normal "the referees a banker!", surely that infringes on my human rights to chant rude and libellous things from the terraces?

Edit - I'm sure at the England game you wont hear the Vuvuzela horns because they will be drowned out by the theme from "The great escape" being played for the 3,036,781 time in a row. (Yes, I have been counting.)

atmosphere wreckers. stick em where sun dont shine

I think they are adding to the atmopshere of the games which would otherwise be pretty much none in most games being played.

Also adding a bit of African culture and putting their stamp on the event.

HOT from me. A good price that can keep the kids amused for a while. Good spot O.P

Why all the cold votes by the way ???? Are people actually voting on the deal here and the fact they can get cheaper elsewhere or are they voting on it for the fact they think the horns are annoying.

I hope its not the latter. Certainly doesn`t fit in with the spirit and idea of this site if so and you could be subjected to "infractions"...
#23
BBC Radio 5 Live are using a special sound isolation filter which removes 95% of the Vuvuzela noise. You can hardly hear them!

So, watch the picture on your telly, with 5Live commentary and you'll be fine ;-)

For some reason they are about 5 seconds ahead of Sky

On a plus note, there appears to be none for sale/given away in Scotland  that I've seen, been in Co-Op, Asdas & Tescos over the last week are there are NONE.
#27
This craze with these horns only started in 2001! Get rid of them, can't hear the crowd at all!

join !

I noticed that when watching BBC but earlier in the day ITV was OK...

I know one thing, watching post world cup tv football is going to seem pretty lifeless, you'll think you've gone deaf.
#30
It'd be far nicer if we had the plinky-plunk of the african thumb piano, made out of slivers of tin cans mounted on wood at varying lengths...

the radio commentators are moaning like hell about them too!
..even breached the football free radio 4 ring of steel as a news item this morning!
#31
Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh....save us from the giant angry wasp!!!:viking:
Whatever happened to a nice sing along?
I would not mind the horn noise so much if they mixed the broadcasts properly so that the commentry could be heard above them, but as it stands you cannot make it out without turning up the volume of both. Doesn't the BBC and other broadcasters still use those special microphones from decades ago that are supposed to reduce the background noise at sports events, or do they just not work at the frequency these horns are at?
Well back to the subtitles for now...
#32
The sound sort of grew in me...
#33
Hopefully they will be banned from future games, annoying as hell.
