Diesels are generally cheaper to lease due to the residual value.

where are the golf R deals when you want them lol

5k, lol. they make these deals look cheap on the surface, then bill the heck out of you for going over your agreed mileage. cold as its essentially a con.

The ones I've seen recently have only been 4-6p a mile extra, so it pays to go for the cheaper 5k deal and just pay the extra rather than selected the higher miles at the beginning.

For that price I'd rather look for a decent secondhand car.

the point being, this isnt a deal if you need something that goes more than 5k without a charge.

Even if you own the car outright it's still going to cost more with increased mileage.

Sadly, the 1.6 TDi is slow. To get any meaningful acceleration out of it (such as for overtaking) you need to work the gearbox and hold on to high revs. The 2 litre is much better to drive, and with good economy as well. But this deal is cold - I do a modest amount of driving, but even that works out at around 8k/year. Rather pointless getting a car to do so few miles in it. It's essentially just an ornament.
