VXR TrackDays - Get Behind The Wheel! £95.00

My 1st Post... Thought this was a very good deal considering how long you are on the track and slalom events etc... i went on it last year and it was fantastic well worth the £95

Drive the New VXR8 (Monaro), VXR Astra, VXR Vectra, VXR Corsa Etc....

Speed, power, adrenalin. A VXR Track Day always gets the blood pumping. In just a day you can get your hands on some seriously powerful VXRs, get a feel for the track and do it all with the guidance of professional instructors.

Awesome!!! Did this last year at Thruxton and have booked it there again.

I noticed they don't do the breakfast buffet in the morning slot anymore :-(

When I do the handbrake parallel parking I'm gonna tell the instructor to f*** off and let me do it myself, without him interferring!!

Just booked it for Brands hatch. Wondering what do you actually do on it then? Do you get many laps behind the wheel and do you have passengers in the car etc?

HIGHLIGHTS

Every session includes the following:

* instruction by professional drivers
* a full safety briefing
* a buffet lunch
* a chance to experience the entire VXR range
* 90* minutes of track time
* 90* minutes of handling activities

Looks good

If it's the same as last year (and that’s based on my experience at Thruxton), you give them your VXR ticket who them your driving licence counterpart and sign a couple of sheets. You're then split into 2 groups, A +B. Group A will have an briefing about the track showing the apexes and tell you to avoid the grass, stuff like that while the other group gets straight into doing advanced manoeuvres (slalom and hand-brake turns). I have videos of my attempts of this if anyone's interested?

When the 90 minutes is up, you swap over and group B does racing and vice versa.

You always have an instructor in the car with you at all times and they basically guide you round the track / slalom course.

The advanced manoeuvres is quite boring as you spend most of the time watching everybody else do the manoeuvres (you only get 2 attempts of each manoeuvre). With the racing though, you get to do 2 laps then you jump out your car in the pit lane and grab another. Usually you have to wait a minute or two for a car to become available.

Thanks a lot dude, that's a great insight. The driving sounds ace :)

yeah its great value for money - i'd say you get over an hour of time in-car, which compared to the 20 mins or so in the normal track days is great. i found the mariva the most fun :)

last year we got a couple of flying laps from their btcc drivers as well. those boys are nuts :)

Voted HOT! I'm booked in for Brands Hatch on 19th May PM. Should be a laugh....
#11
Voted Hot - I am booked with my friend for Rockingham on 26th June. Looking forward to it now!
#12
Booked for Outlon Park this year, was the best £95 I spent all last year. Should go fast now people have cottoned on to what a good deal it is.

Quick request - if you suck at driving and drive a 400hp VXR8 slower than me in a Meriva - move over! :D

Ha, i know what you mean by that. I was overtaking VXR8's in a zafira last year, lol

Sounds great, but too far away from me, which is a shame :/

Love my Astra VXR to bits but have voted this cold i`m afraid because i`m sick as a pig that theres nothing within a 4 and a half hour drive of my home in central Scotland.

Surely they could have struck some deal for a day at Knockhill. Disgusted.

So wanted to go on these track days but its just not practicle with the locations...:x

surely thats ur fault for living in scotland.. your meant to be voting o nthe deal itself, and going by the other options, most areas are covered

hey guys, which one is close to London?

Brands Hatch, just off the M25

I did vote on the deal. The deal is made of price and product isnt it....Nothing wrong with price. Product is where my cold vote comes in due to choices of location that makes up the product.

If this deal had been £95 but the track used was in Russia, do you think it would as hot as it is. ?Me thinks not.!
#20
Heat and rep added! Thanks for the post - mine is all booked :) Can't wait!

Correct me if 'm wrong but the idea of voting at all, is to give an indication of the strength of the deal for other people not for yourself, hence why the scores are aggregated. If this is the case, the distance you are from the deal is irrelevant.

I know it seems obvious but I thought I would point it out in case you weren't sure.:?

It might be better for you if you write yourself a post it note with "This deal is cold for me" written across it and then attach it to the top of your monitor instead, to remind yourself that its no good for you.

The VXR8, Meriva and Corsa (surprisingly) were the best to drive last year.

Well worth your money! Voted hot :)
#23
i went on this last year too was excellent.

car of the day for me was the Corsa VXR, excellent little car, Meriva and Zafira where 'interesting' :)
#24
Really really tempted :-D

I'll end up coming away wanting an Astra/Corsa VXR even more though
#25
Just booked me and my cousin in for Outlon Park on 14th May

I've been wanted to do a trackday for ages and this seems to offer a lot of track time for £95.

Voted Hot!! Bring on the Meriva!!!!!!!!
#26
I did this last year and thought it was fantastic value and great fun. Will deffo do it again. HOT..
#27
LOL

I like this comment they added at the bottom

"What's more: buy a Vauxhall after your track day this year and we'll refund the cost of your Track Day ticket.** "
#28
I got this for free by simply calling my local dealer and asking for a 24 hour test drive. Wasn't that impressed to be honest.
#29
I went to this last year at Oulton Park and it was top stuff, and well worth the money when you consider karting will easily cost that!
My highlight was being driven around by the pros - sideways around some tricky bends on a drying track was an experience and a half!

eeeeeeexactly, voting is for others, not for yourself
#31
hmmm. not sure about this deal. The VXR8 might be quite fun, but surely the rest of the Vauxhall range is a pile of pants. Might be worth the £95 if you are used to driving cr4p cars......!
#32
Any chance of me taking my own Astra VXR on track instead of using theirs????
#33
Hmm, I wont be going back this year. Half of the day as explained is a filler watching other people park Astras. The track part of the day at Donnington was OK but far too crowded to drive much faster than you would on the road - also although a couple of the instructors were OK a lot of them didn't have a clue and contradicted each other.
I managed to get three goes (6 laps) in the Monaro with three different instructors, all aggressively suggesting different lines and different brake points.
The Monaro is a monster and it would have been good to get the chance to know it better. Of course for £95 you don't expect much but even so based on the overall experience I'd say it's not good value. Cold

I'm guessing that you drive a Ford then ! As you clearly do not actually know anything about the VXR range.

I'm not a vauxhall driver myself, but you'd be mildley surprised how some from their range perform! I hard that same thought before I went, but looked at it from the point of view that you were driving on a proper racing track for x number of laps and could do this in someonelse's car.
IMO unless you've been to one of these its quite hard to give an honest opinion.
#36
Went to Thruxton last year and it was excellent. Yep the skills bit is a bit of standing around waiting for others to do their turn but the track time was good. Managed to get around 30 to 40 laps in total plus it isn't in your car. You can get some speed too managed to get over 120 on the faster section on Thruxton.

Some instructors are better than others but for £95 for food and the driving it is a good deal. Just avoid having a drive with Matt Chilton too much ego.

What's the point? Their cars are specifically tuned for the track and you can rinse their petrol, their clutches, their brakes etc.
#38
I don't think he really wanted to take his car there, as there would obviously be no point. He just wanted to let us know he has a Astra VXR, thats all :)

I must admit that I've not driven a Vauxhall recently, however I have read that whilst the Astra VXR is powerful, it does have problems going round corners!
I'll stick with my 220bhp MINI Cooper S that handles very nicely thanks.
