Nice find rayman, a snip of a price!

I dont like these type of clippers. Theyr not as reliable as you would expect them to be. they dont allways perform as you want them to. And they make 2 much noise. But what do you expect? you get what you pay for, and at £6.54 you cant go wrong. Heat added.

I bought a Wahl clipper set from Argos last week for £12 and it was utter tosh...It went back.

If you're cutting your own hair, I find the Philips rotatable ones more useful:

Rechargeable too.

Tough enough for thick hair?

What do proper barbers use? They always seem to have no problem getting through my hair. But all the clippers i've bought, especially cordless, struggle to get through thick hair
#8
best to grab these whilst in stock!
hair today gone tommorrow :)

I've had a Wahl 300 series set of clippers for at least 10 years and never had any probs. Noisy.. yes, but excellent cutting ability and totally reliable. Thoroughly recommended

The Philips clippers would cut your hedge never mind your hair ... I have pretty thick hair and hadn't cut it for several months and the Philips clippers went through it like a knife through butter with not one snag or refusal.

Little tip - Buy the Basic Red Wahl Dog clippers for your hair, they will last you forever and only cost around £22from Argos You will be impressed at just how easy they take your Thick hair off.

Why don't you ask your barber?!
#16
most barbers use the wahl super taper clippers.
#18
reviews suggest this is a poor or average product, shame really as I desperately need a new hair clipper our old wahl one lasted over 10 years!! :)
#19
I think Wahl are the best clippers you can buy, tried loads of clippers over the year and nothing can come near to Wahl .
Big Bargain :-)
#20
great price. I've had a pair of wahl clipper for 10 years and they have never ley me down. Almost tempted to get these as a backup set
#21
Using philips clippers for the last 3 years on my 2 sons and my hair.
Used to have wahl clippers but it would have been less painful using an epilady to remove excess nasal hair.
A good price for these and so many people rate the same clippers good and bad I'm beginning to think that you can be lucky or unlucky in buying any set. I wonder if manufacturing tolerances aren't tight enough?
#22
I've got a version of these clippers and they are class, yes they are quite loud, but does it matter? they sound powerful and the attachments are easy to fit and use. Good Find, Good Price!

People complaining about discomfort whilst using Wahl clippers are talking rubbish imho. I shave my own head with these & it's impossible to nick yourself. You must be using them incorrectly, I thought the attachements made them fool proof! (Oil your clippers, 1 drop after 3 or 4 uses, oil is provided in the box)

Do you know how close this cuts on the minimum setting?

The clippers i have at the moment i use without a attachment. So i would say im cutting at say 0.5

Just cant seem to find any that cut close to the skin as possible.

even the closest shave is going to be 0.5 ish with clippers if you want it closer than that you are really going to have to gilette your head with a proper razor.... it may seem intimidating to try do it yourself at first but its easier than you would expect.

Maybe it is worth paying the extra and getting the 300 model http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wahl-Mains-Clipper-Instructional-9246-810/dp/B0000C6ZGO/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t It gets good reviews.

The Professional Wahl clippers are nothing like these cheap ones! I have had two Wahl models before my current ones, as well as one APPALLING Remington model! I got a new Wahl set, and took them back as they were no better than some that were more than a decade old!

The answer on reading up on it was to stick with Wahl - The Wahl "super taper" are in about as many professional barbers shops as you will find Guinness in Pubs, and they are another thing entirely to the cheap ranges.

The cheap ones will last a while, and are ok for fine even hair, but are also good at cutting chunks out or even hurting if you are less than meticulous about using them. Very slow too.

I have cut my own, and closest family hair for about 17 years now, (about 3 to 4 heads per month average, sometimes wish I hadn't started!) and until I bought the "Super taper" ones I struggled with some, one in particular - having to slowly "inch along" to get the thicker hair cut evenly without snagging and the motor buzzing! With the Super taper ones, the whole lot of "dead wood" is off in seconds, and you can then get down to more careful clipping with much better control too, which is even more crucial when you are doing your own, even though my hair is thin and would still cut with my older cheap ones

Anyone even suggesting that the cheap ones are fine, simply hasn't tried or known any better - I would have thought just the same before using better!

The Wahl Super Taper are about 40 quid, and need a little seeking out at the best price, but for anyone who is serious about doing a good job without any hassle, it is worth every penny, and you will get your money back in saved haircuts in no time

There are Wahl (as well as other Pro manufacturers, but they are usually dearer!) models made for fading cuts (ie; as close to ZERO as possible) the ordinary models don't get nearly so close as the heads adjust to different tolerances.

Look at Wahl "Balder" or "Classic Fader"

http://www.wahlkeepitclean.com/howto.html has some advice and video on how to use some of these types too

I have had cheap ebay versions and cheap Wahls that have not lasted, but have a Wahl Vogue that wasn't too bad, so suggest getting a slightly better clipper than this. You may be lucky... or not.

No, they have simply had to compete with the mass cheap models out there by other manufacturers, and their cheap end of the market stuff is as cheap and tacky as the other makes cheap stuff. Like a lot of other products, I suppose.

The professional ranges are spot-on :-)

(but you pay a good bit more) :-(
