Wow, I paid more than that just for my Wahl proffessional clippers about 20 year ago which are just starting to give up. I doubt those ones will last as long though as they look flimsey in comparisson.

Damn just realised that I have more or less had the same grade 2 haircut for almost 20 yrs:oops: Must have saved some money on haircuts though;-)

What's better about it?

It is the same cheap-end Wahl clipper, with cheap accessories. These are NOT great, and despite the WAHL name, not the quality product of years past - for that you need to buy one from their Professional range, probably around 40 quid for a Super Taper model.

Lots of comments can be read on older threads on cheap Wahl trimmers. Worth a search before you waste your money.

That's what the screw at the side is there for - to adjust.

(Unless it is so cheap a model it hasn't got it!)

Have you ever used mains clippers? Battery ones are rubbish, not very powerful and a waste of money. I've still got a pair of wahl from 15 years ago and were far better than two battery operated ones i tried recently!

Dead right - I had a Remington rechargeable model, and what a waste of space it was.

I bought this from Amazon and it works a treat. For the price you can't go wrong and it comes in a handy storage bag.

Yep...my missus is a hairdresser and cuts my hair at home - we have had both mains and rechargeable and we only use the rechargeable now because you have to be able to sit within a few feet of a mains socket with mains ones, which in our house is awkward. Plus the cable gets in the way!!

Quality rechargeable clippers are absolutely FINE for your normal everyday short back and sides type jobs.

Please do not waste your money on these OR the other ones that are on sale at Argos (Also mentioned in this thread). I had these ages ago and they were utter rubbish. They ripped the hair out rather than cut and i always use no guard to get as close a cut as possible. God knows what it would be like if someone has hair longer than a grade 1. :w00t:

I thought i would try another set and purchased the ones from Argos on Monday just gone. Tried them last night and again they ripped the hair rather than cut. As other poster had mentioned, DO NOT confuse these with a decent set of WAHL clippers.

They may well be, but cheap MAINS ones are not up to the job, let alone cheap rechargeable ones.
Professional rechargeable clippers are monumentally more expensive than the domestic things, as you would expect, seeing the pro mains ones are much more expensive too.

eg. something like these: http://www.hairsupermarket.com/p/1684
115 quid!

I have these and for the price i think they are good value for money.

They have a battery operated trimmer which i needed as i was about to throw my crappy Remmington rechargeable out of the bathroom window as the charge would only last two or three trims.

I have no complaints about the quality, but have yet to try the mains clipper.

That looks like another cheapo budget set with some plastic chrome on it.

The ones here look like the ones the pros use - http://www.salon-sales.co.uk/prodcat.asp?prodtype=Hair%20clippers%20and%20trimmers&prodtypeid=8&type=2

And here have some expensive ones too - http://www.salonsdirect.com/hierarchy.aspx?L1=Hair&Grp1Code=001HAIR&Grp2Code=09CLIPPERS

I have this set and paid £20 in Wilko a few months back and feel they are brilliant value and cut my hair well.

If the clippers are too loud or do not cut well (keep stalling or 'snatch') then please review the manual and adjust the power screw on the body of the clippers.
