As per title, Essential Waitrose English Mature Cheddar is now £2.25 for 550g. This works out at £4.10 per kilo, which is decent enough.

Just in case anyone doesn't realise, Iceland still offer a cheaper deal per kilo for mature Cheddar cheese. Link.

ok, but do realise waitrose gets the same cheese as aldi, asda (and used to be sainsburys also) zero difference... used to work in a cheese factory packaging it.

I think this may be true of a lot of staple food groups.

i think Aldi have changed their supplier, never seems as mature as it used to - more rubbery than crumbly these days.

Is that the same story for the low fat range of cheeses please? I love Waitrows cheese but can swear that is different to Asda's ??!
