Economy oats will make rank gruel, need some substance to them to make a decent porridge.
I get a kilo of jumbo oats for £1.15 locally or 3 kilos for £3 so the price isn't even that great

These may be Essential oats but most Waitrose Essentials food is usually a lot better quality than other supermarket basic stuff.

Cold.Morrisons sell 1KG for 79p.I buy them and they are just as good as any other porridge oats.Another overpriced Waiotrose post.

i totally agree. i reckon in a blind taste test people wouldn't really know the difference.

Depends on what sort of texture you prefer, and also on how you cook jumbo oats. If you leave it to soak overnight before cooking, it gives a creamier porridge. But some people may just prefer porridge oats...
Anyway, to answer your question, Waitrose sells a few brands of jumbo oats --- Flahavan's, Whites, Duchy and Mornflake. You can also find jumbo oats at Sainsburys.

Thanks.. ill give em a go... dont like the ready brek consistency of cheap oats (combined with bonus hard bits) :-(
