These look lovely - especially to receive as a present, but I have already started my own.
That way I can buy exactly the luxury items I know the recipient would appreciate..... rather than include and pay for olives or wholegrain mustard etc which I know they won't use.
So I buy 'posh' coffee and tea, jams and preserves, pickles and relishes, biscuits (sweet and cheese), soups and cakes, cheese, ham and pates, sherry, port and whiskey etc.
I buy the items as I am doing my normal shopping - when all the Christmas lines start appearing in August(!!!), and when they are on offer/linked buys.
I must admit, I don't even bother with a posh basket (although I have plenty kicking around the garage) Just a strong cardboard box covered in Xmas wrap.
Think it is a great present - especially for older rellies, so you know they have something extra special in their fridge/cupboard for weeks/months to come, not just for Christmas holiday period.

Yes these look very tempting, but I will carry on with my diy version

This is what is making me question which one to purchase. I know they are overpriced, but by quite a lot it seems.

The one for £100 in the article I just paid £37.50 for

Saved yourself about £10, but probably ended up with a few things you don't even want.

Thanks for this. I have ordered the £37.50 Wonder of Christmas for my In Laws. I'm sure it will be presented very well and make a lovely gift. One strange thing I noticed though was that my Verified by Visa page stated 1GBP. Did anyone else notice this? My receipt shows £37.50 so I assume its just a website error.
#60

I've had that happen to me in the past and thought I was only getting charged £1, think I read somewhere that some companies take the whole amount through there and other only take £1 but obviously somewhere along the line they get the rest of it.

Brilliant, thank you !

Yep it's called a pre-authorisation and it happens quite alot. Tesco springs to mind, they always take £1 and others do to. I questioned this once with my bank and they explained that alot of companies take a small amount, in this case £1 to validate the card, it happens most when something isn't being dispatched straight away (like shopping or in this case hampers)

If i log into my credit card account i can see 2 pending amounts of £1 each, which will be the 2 hampers i ordered. They will drop off next week at some point (usually after 5 days) but Waitrose will take the hamper amount when they dispatch them

My hamper status in "Open Orders" tab on the WR Direct website, has changed to "CANCELLED"

No word, or email or anything from WR about this

Disgusted with them!
