Walkabout £1 Burger

Just Register and Print voucher Ends: 7 days after it's issued

Restrictions: You must purchase a drink with the £1 burger. Over 18s only. Promotion ends Tues 2 June 09.

Notes: Sign up to the newsletter on the Walkabout website and you'll be sent a voucher entitling you to a beef or veggie burger meal for just £1. The usual cost of this meal is around £5.40, so that's a saving of £4.40.

You will however have to buy a drink, the cheapest of these being a coke or lemonade at £2.

If you are already registered on the Walkabout website, you'll have to sign in and 'tell a friend' about this deal by inserting their email address. If your friend then registers to the Walkabout newsletter, you'll both receive your £1 burger vouchers.

The one in Wigan is a dive, I dont think they do food and I wouldnt even think of going in the place for a £1 its all about selling beer cheap to drunks.
#5
Nahhhh, you can get a tea for£1.60!!

£2 for a class of coke or lemonade? jesus, what a ripoff!

£1 for a burger is ok i guess, but these are the reasons why i dont go to these places.

also im not sure if the one in durham is open now, looked like it was closed down when i was last in town.

just as well though, i always had a grudge against them cos they took over our only cinema (robins cinema) in durham so i couldnt see films again for ages, so i boycotted them.

If you take the deal for what it is, £3 for a burger and coke, then its a good deal irrespective of how much the drink costs in proportion to the burger or to other places.

I wish they wouldn't advertise it as £1 burger when it's really £3+ burger&drink (or maybe £2.60 with a cup of tea but I'd rather have a coke or beer with my burger).

Also, when opting not to receive the newsletter "We can't let you have a lovely tasty burger for just £1 if you do that." So it's really £3+ for burger&drink&newsletter

Also, the front page makes it look like you only need to enter your email address to get a £1 burger but really you have to fill in an entire form of personal details before they've mentioned you need to spend at least £3.

Also the page is incredibly broken in current Firefox for me.

In conclusion, I don't like Walkabout.

Although, buy their £3 "boomerang card" and it gives you 4 bottles of stella, 4 coors light, 4 smirnoff ice (and ongoing discounts) when you register it online. I doubt any of those count as the drink with your £1 burger but still £6 for a burger, a coke, and 12 bottles of booze sounds like a night out to me.

edit: Actually I bet the 12 free drinks come with secret terms like have to use them on specific dates and 1 per day and you have to buy 144 more drinks and burgers. I'm not paying £3 to find that out.

edit: Menu probably varies per branch since you need to register and choose your favorurite branch before seeing an online menu, but cheapest drink is espresso £1.20 (£0.90 with boomerang card). Full price of beef burger is £5.20 or veggie burger is £4.80 including chips,beer-battered onion rings and coleslaw, so if you get all that for £1 that's not too bad (and yes they do serve lots of kangaroo dishes too!)

edit (last one, honest): You get another "£1 burger" voucher each time you invite a friend and they sign up.

Went into the Bromley one for the free burger offer last time. Staff were like ''the kitchen closed today''. I was like ''why?'', they replied ''it just is''.

Left and said to myself Id never be back. Think ill be sticking with my original thoughts.

Surprised at the amount of bad feedback on here. Slug and Lettuce on Mondays do 50% off all food without even showing a voucher. Just turn up. Give them £3 for there fantastic burgers.

I got the Boomerang card and you do get 12 free drinks, you have to print a voucher evey week, each is only valid for 1 week and the drinks rotate, i.e. stella one week, the smirnoff ice etc. I did it though and only missed one week and just went in every time in daytime when was nice and quiet and claimed my freebie! Even tried branches in other cities when I was out for the day :-) Some are in amazing old buildings like Sheffield's in a Methodist or Quaker chapel.

I've never been to Walkabout before but I don't mind paying £2 lemonade + £1 burger since I'm assuming it's better than McDs! Their website is listing
100% beef, chicken, lamb, kangaroo, springbok or veggie burgers

They really do sell kangaroo burger?! I think I'll stick to beef or chicken thanks.....

Does anyone know what springbok is?

Just on the misleading advertising, broken web site etc. from me. It's not a bad deal and advertised pretty fairly in the description here (still has £1 with no restrictions in the title) but it's still min spend more than £1 and that's not made very clear on their site until you sign up for everything. Burger and soft drink £3 would have been a less misleading way to advertise it, and explaining that as £1 burger plus buy any drink when you click through for the details in case you want an espresso or beer or something instead.

12 drinks for £3 DOES sound a decent deal, but again the details aren't made clear upfront on the site which puts me off. I'd buy one of those cards anyway if I lived/worked near enough to a walkabout to know I could go most of the next 12 weeks.

National animal of South Africa. Nice rich game meat. Should give it a go :)
