How closely does the series follow the book? I love the walking dead, but I wouldn't want to read what will happen in the series, would be a bit of a spoiler.

Weeeelll, there's stuff that's the same and stuff that isn't. The campfire episode is pretty much from the book (it was written by Kirkman) but, for instance, the guy who gets handcuffed to the roof is a complete invention.

So: you can watch and not be sure what's going to happen, plus if you read this comic you'll be some four seasons into the show! AND there's another 25 issues after this too. So it comes down to: do you want to just watch a TV show, or do you want to read a comic which has no end in sight and is as good today as it was when it started.

I thought that the guy on the roof top turns up later in the comic?

I hate it when they make a comic out of a TV show.

the series is useless compared to the comic, buy this and scrap the lame tv series

Cheers Tom. Actually I think I will just watch the TV series, what I like about the TV series is there is no reading involved.

Money well spent this comic is awesome and even if you've seen the show then do it. It has a slightly different direction to the tv series so you may not being stumbling across spoilers. It worth checking out to see what inspired the show.

I can't imagine the TV series ever getting quite as dark as some of the stuff in the comics (e.g the Governor, etc.), I enjoyed season 1 of the TV series and I'm looking forward to season 2 (especially as it's due for a 13 episode run) but I don't think they'll ever outstrip the brilliance of the comics.
