Here you go guys - another opportunity for you to show what a caring, tolerant country we've become over the last 4 years. Enjoy

Every time one of these comes up, I browse the comments and see the same regurgitated Daily Mail crap. What is most annoying is the vitriol people are prepared to spout from a stance of complete and utter ignorance. Worse than ignorance for those that read the tabloids and blindly repeat the **** they print.

Cmon most Oap`s are now fairly well off. Its the young that are skint with little to no help. No free bus travel, winter fuel payments, free insulation, free tv licenses for them.

Thank you op! I am by no way a scrounger but through redundancies for myself and my husband we are struggling to make ends meet and this will go towards helping make life a little easier for us and our 2 young sons.

Tar & feather 100'000s of people into the same reactionary & bigoted category by caricaturing them all as Wayne & Waynetta slob. Congratulations. Brilliant. The disabled & the poor have had the **** kicked out of them the past few years, maybe one day you'll be in that position. Hmmm?

Great for OAPs and those genuinely on benefits through no fault of their own but another reason for the work shy not to look for work when everything is practically handed to them on a silver platter

Not everyone abuses the system. I can't work through no fault of my own plus I get disability for my young son but I don't claim this as my benefits are adequate and there are more deserving people of this money like OAPs

Hmm very sneaky, its only on the electricity... so really it means you need to buy your electricity from british gas in order to get a 'warm home' discount. What about british gas customers who have gas central heating to warm their homes??

You are rather silly aren't you? Unless you're young and physically can't work, you have no rights to say you deserve benefits. I am a young person and I have never claimed benefits. The OAP's need them more than me.

The warped beauty of mass hysteria, I mean mass media ..... lol.

I think you should reconsider 'accepting' the Disability Benefit for your Son? .. cos come Tomorrow when he gets a bit Older & needs this Money to be now Claimed on his behalf & is no longer able to for no fault of his own, he may not necessarily thank you for it ..... (cos of this ever changing Government criteria & the like ..... )

Its all good though .....

The amount British gas charge you would need a discount to have a wash. Energy companies should be ashamed for the extortionate prices they charge.

Why sneaky? If you bothered to read you would see it's not just a British gas scheme, it's done through all the energy companies.

What a con to get you to sign up for the electric from British Gas. What at their inflated energy priced ,i'm not surprised they can dangle a carrot to get you on their customer list.

Why would I reconsider claiming this money for my 8 year old son?? You don't know anything about his disability!

They may be in the medical profession and know lots about his disability. Ambiguity, gotta love it.

all providers have to provide a certain no. of these per year, but they only give out a limited number so get your applications in early. nb you can also register for the following year if you miss out on this one. I never managed to get help when I needed it via this route, but it's great for those who can and do get it and it's definitely not advertised well enough. heat added.:)

actually it would be nice just once for those who worked hard, paid attention at school, got good jobs and pay enough tax to employ someone full time, just once to get something back, almost a 'hey' well done here is a discount!

not a criticism against those who need benefits but seriously there is little incentive to bother anymore is there?

I'm not into 'kicking' the disabled, disadvantaged and genuinely poor, people who are deserving of the benefits system - I'm into kicking the genuine 'Wayne & Waynetta slobs' who heavily outnumber the worthy and who are a significant drain on the decent taxpayer.

Lose the chip on the shoulder dude.

I don't think Jamie mentioned anything about disabled? I am sure he has empathy with disabled people, however 'disabled' (ooh mi backs hurting) people, he may not have?

Seems to me you are one of those do-gooders that are part of the problem. Go and save some whales or something.
