Warres Late Bottled Vintage 2007 was £13.99 now £6.99 @ Morrisons

Warres Late Bottled Vintage port Half price at Morrisons £6.99.

Great price for an LBV port from a decent producer.

MORE importantly this is from 2007 (confirmed when I picked up in store) which should be very nice given 2007 was a declared vintage year.

For those that remeber, the Taylor's 2003 LBV was very nice so hoping to pick up a nice little bargain here.

Would it be worth storing a couple of bottles do you think?

I've picked up 6, and once I have tried one might pick up another 6...

Wish I had more of the 2003 Taylors left so don't want to make the same mistake again. I would imagine these will be even better to drink in a couple of years.

How long does a decent port keep for?

It's only worth storing if it says 'unfiltered'? Some LBV's do, most dont. If it has been filtered it is like cheap wine, in that it has a shelf life. The king of Ports is Vintage port, that ages in the bottle for decades. Don't confuse Vintage Port with Late Bottled Vintage Port LBV, completely different animals.

Not wanting to thread jack but I have a bottle of warres 1995 vintage port so does this mean I can just leave this for more years yet? I only looked at it today and wondered...

    Hi Mosskeeto,

if it says Vintage Port, and not late Bottled Vintage Port, yes, leave it horizontal for another 30 years if your patient enough! :-)
But from memory, 1995 is not a Vintage Year for Port, 1994 was. In that case, it is LBV, and therefore, see if it says 'unfiltered' on it. I think again from memory, Warres LBV from those years were unfiltered, and thus will benefit from ageing.
Theorectically, although it will age, it wasn't from the finest grapes (The true Vintage years), so 1995 Port should be just about entering it's prime, and go on for another 10 to 15 years.

Thanks for your advice I sure it will help anyone that is interested enough to be checking this thread.
I think mine is vintage although it doesn't say unfiltered on it, it came in a box detailing what a vintage port is....
